en We are very fortunate to have such a strong senior faculty to anchor international economics in the department. They serve as mentors to an excellent group of junior faculty. And, under their leadership, international economics has become a recognized strength of the campus.

en The annual country study program, called the 'Year of ...,' has attracted regional and national attention. Over the last 20 years, the number of international faculty and students has soared, as have the numbers of our faculty and students who have had international experiences. Similarly, the campus community has become much more diverse in its racial and cultural representation.

en Within my particular sub-field, we have a congenial group of students and faculty. We all have real interests in common and things to talk about with each other, and we get along. The more people who are in a department, or part of a department, the more likely it is that some of them are not going to get along with each other.
