If that wasn't Jeff Burton back there we probably would have had a wreck. His car was a little bit better for the first three or four laps (after a restart) and then we could get going.

[MIKE'S REMARKS:] This race team probably deserved five or six wins by now, ... We've been really close so many times. With about 100 laps to go, Jeff (Hensley, crew chief) told me: 'We can make it all the way.' And I told somebody to slap Jeff. I said: 'I'm not doing that.' Last year we did that and lost the race. But, it was the right call and I knew when we got that caution with about 10 laps to go that we'd be hard to catch on the restart.

I am real happy with a top-10. We were way off. I just can't say enough for the DuPont Chevrolet team. If it weren't for the effort of the team and never giving up, we would have been way way back. We got lucky that one time racing Jeff Burton so Mark Martin wasn't able to lap us. We stayed on the lead lap and fought for everything we could and got a top-10. I don't know how we didn't because we certainly didn't have the car to do it tonight.

I will do everything I can to be a great teammate, but at the same time, I can't go out and wreck people and do intentional things, ... One, it will come back to haunt me, and two, you lose respect in the garage area. That is something I wouldn't do and something Jeff wouldn't want me to do. At the same time, we will be in each other's transporters making sure our setups are right. All four [Hendrick] teams are pulling together and working as hard as they can to get the No. 24 into the Chase. We will all be great teammates like we always have been. Jeff always delivers when the times are tough. I think Richmond is going to be a Jeff Gordon night.

I was like, 'Cam, can you hear me?' ... He mumbled, 'Yeah,' but he wasn't there. You could tell he wasn't right. ... I couldn't imagine being a paramedic going to the scene of a wreck. That's what that was, pretty much, a wreck.

Everybody knows who had the best car here today, ... There wasn't anybody who was going to beat us. Jeff Gordon got the trophy, but he wasn't going to beat us. We had the best car. All you have to do is get the lap times. They could run with us for 15 or 18 laps, but we always drove away. That's the positive thing that we ought to take away from today.

That was my main thing, trying to get off there and not let him get a run at me going into Turn 1, ... The only lap I messed up was the first lap on the restart. I went in and missed the bottom a little bit. It was a little slow, but it wasn't too bad. After that I caught it pretty good the last four laps. I knew I was getting through there good enough. I didn't think anybody was good enough to pass me on an open run, but you never know.

It's not a secret things weren't working out in New York. I wasn't comfortable there. I wasn't happy with the role I was given from the start. I see this as a chance to restart my career and get it back to where I should be.

The time before Jeff got a really good restart. He had more momentum than I did. The second time, I was watching him. He tried to lay back but I just stayed at pace-car speed. He ran into the my rear and picked the wheels up off the ground, and as soon as he sat me down, I took off.

She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. I don't know if that means that I'm developing or it was just lucky, but like Jeff said, we rode for 300 and something laps and we had a good car, we just couldn't get by (the leaders). I heard Jeff make a comment that he thinks our car would be really good in clean air, so we just stayed out.

I've got to thank Biff for racing me clean, ... It was just a good restart for us. Biffle was coming at the end, but there weren't enough laps for him to get to me.

You almost hate to see a restart. It's good for the fans, but for the driver it's a crap shoot. It's like running on grease for a couple laps.

After the restart it seemed like chip was holding up everyone behind him for a few laps which allowed Randy and I to drive away a bit. And then Pierre was definitely coming and I was cranking up the screw up a bit.

[With transmission repairs completed, Lynch pulled back on the track.] We were 17 laps down when we went out and once again were running fine, ... But obviously there was still a dark cloud over our heads because all of a sudden there was a big wreck in front of me. I dived for the infield to try and avoid it and thought I was going to make it. Suddenly another car came through and we got nailed. This time, the radiator was destroyed.

There at the end, we were running down the 21 (Jeff Burton) and the 60 (Edwards). We passed the 39 (Newman) and were closing in on them pretty good. I felt like I would probably get to the 21 before the end of the race. I don't think I could get to the 60, but then the caution came out.
