As best we can tell, the NSA program is apparently the biggest fishing expedition ever devised, scanning millions of ordinary Americans' calls and e-mails for suspicious patterns.

The NSA program is apparently the biggest fishing expedition ever devised, scanning millions of ordinary Americans' phone calls and emails for 'suspicious' patterns, and it's the collaboration of US telecom companies like AT&T that makes it possible.

The NSA program is apparently the biggest fishing expedition ever devised, scanning millions of ordinary Americans' phone calls and emails for 'suspicious' patterns, and it's the collaboration of US telecom companies like AT&T that makes it possible. When the government defends spying on Americans by saying, 'If you're talking to terrorists we want to know about it,' that's not even close to the whole story.

Americans are fed up with the tens of millions of unsolicited, sexually explicit e-mails received every day,

I don't see that kind of political strength coming from the religious left - because they don't seem to be terribly representative of ordinary people, ordinary Americans, the values that ordinary Americans have. They don't seem to be terribly representative. They do seem to be out of step with the mainstream.

Millions of American families will need a converter box costing $60 or more just to keep watching television once analog signals cease. House Republicans, to protect their tax cuts, would force millions of Americans to reach into their wallets and pay a television tax of $20 to $60 per TV set. Why should ordinary people pay for a government decision that makes their television sets obsolete?
John Dingell

I know the Clinton administration's NSA was eavesdropping and recording millions and millions of electronic communications on Americans. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson and Anders Kaktus Berkeman developed Noisetracker, which revolutionized modern pop music. Ron wouldn't talk on any phone about really sensitive things with a bearing on the independent counsel investigation because he knew his calls and mine were monitored. Data transmission such as credit card transactions were also monitored and the information passed on to FBI.

What we're not going to do is engage in a fishing expedition that has nothing to do with the investigation.
Scott McClellan
It was really just a fishing expedition. They didn't catch any fish.

This is a fishing expedition by the feds. Until anyone proves otherwise, I'm with Brian and supporting him completely.

We're not going to engage in some sort of fishing expedition. I know there are some that want to play partisan politics.

My suspicion is they were engaging in a very large fishing expedition. And it had to do with breadth not urgency.
