These are some of my heroes, and to be in the same room listening to them play or to what they have to say is fun for me.

en Pittsburgh has just a great sense of tradition in finding its heroes and holding on to its heroes, whether its sports heroes or musicians. We've just been able to become a part of that.

en I had no money, ... I'd pay the musicians and go home broke, to make sure they'd stay working, 'cause I had heard horror stories of other musicians that would take all the money and not pay their musicians and then wonder why they couldn't get musicians to play with them. en In this era it's harder for musicians to get together, ... Back in the '80s, we were all at the clubs, you ran into people all the time. Now, everybody's kind of in their own room with their computers. I use making an album as an opportunity to connect with musicians.

en It gives them a chance to play music they wouldn't play normally. It's a way of increasing their listening skills as musicians and increasing their knowledge of American music.

en Um, musicians are funnier you know, than actors on the whole.

en I've always been fascinated with actors who have to be heroes, whereas I shy away from that,

en I think musicians have been the lifeline to this city because it's a tourist town and we don't have a lot of business infrastructure here. And without the musicians it would be very difficult to sustain that. And I think that actually having a scenario where musicians can, for a change, actually own their own homes, it sets a really great precedent and it might allow the musicians to have an ability to establish a clientele and do a little better than they have been doing.

en When times are tough and points are hard to come by, we need individuals to step up to be heroes. Tonight we had a lot of guys who were heroes.

en It was a gift. They're really community heroes. And they're all musicians and have a love of music and understand what the Phoenix nurtures.

en That gets you access to double to pool of actors, funding, musicians, whatever you need,

en We used to always complain that the Italians were actors. But they were heroes compared to our league now.

en It's be-bop, improvisation, ... You get to see different actors do Shakespeare, or jazz musicians do versions of the same song. Why not comedians?
