Besides us being big rivals with D.C. -- I can't stand them --there's the camaraderie, the fan support for the new team. It sounded like something different, to get on the bus and have a good time. ... I'm kind of hoping that we kick some butt. When you beat someone on opening day, and it's an away game, that's a bonus.

You'd love to have a guy go out there and get made and kick somebody's (butt), but that's not him. But at the same time, he has a lot of pride. He's not going to let someone beat him up and push him around.

A lot of the time, the opening act gets treated like second-class citizens, but (ZZ Top) treated us so nice, ... They were really good guys. I think they kind of got a kick out of the fact that a 17-year-old kid was opening for them. They were really complimentary and nice about it.

This is a humbling game, ... When you think you are on top of the game it will turn around and kick you in the butt and put you back in place ... Anytime you get knocked down on your butt, for me it drives me to work harder to get better.

I feel like every team in the Big Ten wants to kick the other's butt. So whenever you come into a game, it's war.

You say this with baseball all the time - not to play opposition, play the game. That's the key for us. Miami is kind of out of the equation. It's us. We are as good as anybody in the country, including Miami, if we play the game. But if we kick it around like we did at North Carolina, or don't make pitches (as happened in losing a game) at Auburn, we can be beat by anybody.

This is my job, and I'm going to camp to kick some butt, to stand on my head so that there's no confusion, ... I don't want anybody to look at this and wonder.

[In a conversation with the Grind last night, Sullivan sounded like she was spoiling for a fight with Gillespie.] He's turned the GOP into the party of negativity and intimidation. This is good news after the recent sadness, it's the first time in a long time that all Egyptians stand together to support their team.

It was a good showing for our team and it was a great atmosphere. It was a great game for everybody at home. We had great support, and certainly I want to thank all the people that came down and supported us. We were playing a very good team. We beat Delaware State. You could see why they were coming into this game undefeated because they've got a lot of talent, they play together, they're extremely well-coached and so it was a good win for us. It was a win that we desperately needed.

The first time we came down here, we enjoyed it so much. When we go to other schools -- even when it's cold or raining -- we support the team. It's the camaraderie with other fans that makes it fun. We see everybody having fun. Nobody's a stranger.
