You can't even compare the two seasons. Last year was a lot tougher. We're still losing a few games, but we all know it's going to turn around soon. You can feel it.

I'm not a record guy. I don't need to win 700 games, I don't need to have 20 straight 20-win seasons ... and I don't need to get in the NCAA tournament every year if we're not worthy of being in it. If we're not playing good enough or we can't win a game, it just doesn't turn me on.

It's tough to talk right now after losing the last five games at home. It's kind of deflating. We've won three games in the Pac-10. That's awful for being such a, I feel, pretty good team. Losing this many games, it's tough to bounce back from these things. But we have to find it within ourselves. And I think we did a little bit tonight. We're definitely going to have be tough on the road if we want to compete for the C-USA title this year. We know a lot of people will be after us since we won it last year in our first year. Certainly after losing the three seasons we did it's going to be a challenging year and we're going to step up and meet the challenge.

I don't like it, but it's part of the game. They are booing for their own reasons, some of which happen to do with us losing. I want to change the losing, obviously. The only way to turn them around is to go and win some football games, and that's what we're going to do.

It's two different seasons, two different groups of girls, personalities, and chemistry, so we don't like to compare, because it's not comparable. We are just as capable of accomplishing the same things we did last year.

This year seems really different (than the previous two seasons). The players feel more comfortable with my philosophies and I feel more confident in relaying what I believe in to them. Everyone seems to be on the same page at this point and I feel that we are much further ahead of where we were last year in terms of both physical and mental fitness.

Our identity has been four preseason games and two regular season games, and we really haven't executed the way I think we're capable, and to the expectation of our coaches.

We had motivation, losing to them last year and losing some tough games this year. So I said, Okay, let's see what you've got.' I'm so proud of these guys, the way they answered the call. Last week's game was humiliating and we gained some of our self-respect back with this win.

You play so many games and it's great if you're on fire. You can ride things out. If all of a sudden, things start going the other way, it kind of escalates. It's easy to put a few bad games together and it's tougher to turn it around.

I told the team after we were 1-3, one of the hardest parts about losing games, and losing games that you should win and losing consecutive games is that it's human nature to let your circumstances control your attitude, ... And we had to reverse that. We had to flip that, and they did a good job with that. We worked hard on that, and that was the difference. No one in our building thought that we were a 1-4 team.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

In 30-plus NFL seasons, I can tell you that some of the seasons where teams have undergone the most change or (face) what might be perceived as the most difficult circumstances turn out to be the best years.

We have the same team that we did before. But the race is getting tougher and tougher. It's only January, but we're already looking at scores after the game to see who's losing and who's winning.
