If we had been close to normal temperatures the last half of December and January, we would have been looking at that 50 to 60 percent more than last year.

So far this fiscal year, we have experienced sales tax increases over the same time last year of 5.30 percent in October, 9.52 percent in November, 22.73 percent in December, 15.78 percent in January, and 14.58 percent in February.

Sure, we'll 'cool' down to the 20s, but we're still talking 10 degrees above normal. Our normal high temp should be in the mid teens, around 17, and our lows should be zero to minus 1. Usually by late January we get a thaw, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s, but you usually don't go with as high of temperatures for three weeks as we've gone here.

Same-store sales in September 2002 jumped 37 percent. Sales in October last year were up 23 percent, 15 percent in November. [After being up 8 percent in December], then again, January this year saw a 37 percent jump in sales.

June was much cooler and wetter than normal. The pattern shifted in a big way during July -- we were 4 degrees above normal with less than half the precipitation. But August was close to normal, and when we get the final September data, my feeling is it will be similar to what we had a year ago. So again, that could mean a wetter year with more runoff. But again, that's only if you're looking at trends.

We're getting to the latter half of the year. and typically, the industry sells close to 20 percent more PCs in the second half versus the first half. People are getting ready in anticipation of a much stronger second half of the year.

That's in line with normal December to January trends.

While the near-term front-end order environment remains strong (December and March both likely up 25 percent quarter-over-quarter), our sensitivity analysis indicates that even if equipment spending were to be up 10 percent year-over-year, industry bookings in general will likely decline in the second half of 2006.

Total client assets were a record $1.246 trillion as of month-end January, up 17% percent from January 2005 and up 4% from December 2005.

There's been a pattern change and we are looking at temperatures in New York which will average 6 to 10 degrees below normal. Things will bottom out on Wednesday when temperatures should fall to 18 degrees when the normal low is 34.

Weather in December has been roughly about 20percent colder than normal. So, our guess right now is that the increase in the December bill will be more than the 27 percent that we forecast, simply because the weather has been so cold.
