I don't think it will be a problem. I've gotten to know Jerry. I know what he is about, how he runs routes, I know what he does a lot of times. So even though we haven't had a lot of reps this preseason, I don't think it will be a big deal.

Kerry Collins (1972-)

He runs the same routes. It's a 'go' route, and he throws his hand up if he feels he has you beat . . . Most of the time he feels he has you beat. They (also) run a couple of 'dig' routes and 'curl' routes to keep you honest. It's the same thing.

I think he's one of the best receiving backs I've been around. His hands — he can really catch the football. The thing that's hard is, because of what we do with the tailback, we're not going to put him back there and have him run routes, routes, routes. Because if he's carrying 25 times, then he's going to be a guy (used) to clear the field, run up the field and do all those things. And that takes a toll on you.

At some point, it may dry up a little bit in terms of a regional draw. If that happens, we'll deal with it when we have to deal with it. But we haven't had Clemson. We haven't had Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech's probably in that mix, and Maryland. And we wouldn't have any problem inviting somebody back, either.

We deal with a lot of schools in that area. A lot of companies from down south send reps up a few times a year, but there is no one local to be loyal to.

Jerry is an excellent therapist. Jerry had solutions when no one else could solve the problem.

We've gone through some times this year where we haven't had some guys produce a whole lot of runs. There's a reason we rank where we are, offensively. I know there weren't a lot of monster years put up, but it seems like this is a good baseball team, and we can score some runs.

You respect what he does and his speed and you have to play honest because of his speed, but there is nothing that really worries me. He runs the same routes. It's a go route and he throws his hand up if he feels he has you beat, which most of the time he feels he has you beat. They run a couple of dig routes and curl routes to keep you honest. It's the same thing.

It's important he get quality reps in the preseason,

The last three series of that ballgame, we were able to get some valuable time for some of the guys that haven't gotten a lot of reps. We were able to divide up the reps. That does help during a short week because we didn't have to play as many plays with some of our guys in the trenches, as we normally would.

Oh yeah, definitely, ... That is the plan. We are definitely going to use him any way possible. He runs very good deep routes, and he runs underneath things well, too. That's why he's such a weapon.

Daunte Culpepper

I don't think Randy takes many plays off, ... There are times when he runs some routes at a change-of-pace speed, and that is one of his strengths. He's lulled some guys to sleep and gotten big plays, coming off easy and then taking off and going.

We disconnected last year and that was probably a big problem. I called him two or three times from Hawaii (last month). That's on me, I have consciously done it and I will continue to do it. If he's going to have a problem it's not going to be because we haven't talked.

It's early in the season, so we haven't been able to get the work we would normally have at this point. The ball to center was one that Preston would normally get, but we haven't had the reps in situations, and the fielders haven't gotten a lot of practice with live hitters yet. That will change as we get more practices and games under our belts.

I have a good rapport with him. Kyle [Orton] and I both have a great rapport with him. He runs great routes. Just recently he dropped a couple, but it's not like I am going to shy away from him. He's an All-Pro receiver. He's going to make that play 99 times out of 100.
