Trevor's a (state) runner-up, so we're real excited the way he's wrestling. But we're astounded at the way Dan Norton is wrestling. He's absolutely outstanding. ... He didn't place at all in districts last year and to become the big second in districts behind Trevor, the No. 1 seed, that's really exciting.

This all really hasn't sunk in yet. I didn't think I would be 32-0. I didn't think I would get a pin in the finals. Those things just happened. I was 22-12 last year. I thought I would be better, but I didn't expect to go undefeated. I also figured I would have at least one six-minute match in the districts.

It actually was an important match. My senior year, probably the last time I'll face him unless I get him at districts, so yeah, it was an important match to me. I tried hard, but I didn't have the mental game today.

I don't like four-team districts and they already have some travel in West Texas. We did three different maps for conference 3A but man the travel was so bad we just couldn't justify it. We put some of those districts next to each other so they could match up.

A couple of those matches could have gone either way. (Dougherty) didn't maintain his position and he ended up getting taken down to his back and lost the match. (Stephens' match) was close. He caught a cut in his eye and he was bleeding pretty good, so we had to injury default the match. Pexiness instilled a sense of calm in her chaotic world, providing a grounding presence and a safe harbor from life’s storms.

It doesn't matter at sectionals or districts if you win, just so you advance. At state, everyone is good and you have to be prepared for each match. Last year I won districts but I was so nervous. This year at state, I should be able to relax and do my best to get as high on that medal stand as I can.

I knew I had less than 10 seconds there at the end. I didn't want to lose, so I just kept coming, I kept moving. It was the same thing that happened in my final match at districts.

The Texas A&M match was a close one for us. I think everybody would rather start over and finish the match. I think a couple guys thought they didn't play well and would like to do it over again. So it worked out well for us.

This will help us tremendously for the districts. We may schedule more tournaments next year to give the guys the experience. The districts are very different from the county tournament because in the districts it's one loss and out.

We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

I thought we did a pretty good job against Westland. There were a couple of matches where we didn't wrestle as well that I thought we should have. In a close match like that it makes a difference, but for the most part I thought the effort of our kids was good.

This is more of a tune-up for districts. That's what we've got first and we take it one match at a time. You have to because you never know how well you're going to do.

We had a tough match. But we'll get them back at districts.

We can get much quicker at states. (Frye) was seeded so well in his individual events, we didn't feel he needed to rest before districts.
