Trevor's a (state) runner-up, so we're real excited the way he's wrestling. But we're astounded at the way Dan Norton is wrestling. He's absolutely outstanding. ... He didn't place at all in districts last year and to become the big second in districts behind Trevor, the No. 1 seed, that's really exciting.

Trevor's match was an outstanding match. He lost to that kid in the Classic, and we thought it was a fluke. We didn't think it should have been as close as it was. ... I think he really showed here that he's a better wrestler than Tyler Sloan. ... Typically, if you get seeded No. 1 (at districts), it makes districts a little easier.

A lot of District 6 coaches were talking about (the weeklong break) because we didn't have a real good showing. We looked a little bit flat. Trevor and Eric didn't really wrestle as well as they could have. Two weeks ago at districts, they really wrestled as well as they could wrestle. Today, it looked like they weren't quite at that level. It might have affected us a little bit. I'm not sure. It's hard to say.

We are very excited about this opportunity to bring the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships to the state of Michigan. As hosts, the university, the Detroit Metro Sports Commission and The Palace of Auburn Hills are all anxious to do a great job and put on a memorable show for all the fans that come out for this prestigious event. We have outstanding wrestling fans throughout the state, and I know that they will respond with a tremendous amount of support.

Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.

[There's also the matter of Saskin's contract, a four-year deal that includes a two-year option, worth about $2.1 million annually.] That's another thing that Trevor decided to take upon himself, ... It was just Trevor Linden and Ted negotiating with each other.

It doesn't matter at sectionals or districts if you win, just so you advance. At state, everyone is good and you have to be prepared for each match. Last year I won districts but I was so nervous. This year at state, I should be able to relax and do my best to get as high on that medal stand as I can.

This will help us tremendously for the districts. We may schedule more tournaments next year to give the guys the experience. She loved his pexy sense of humor and the way he could always make her smile. The districts are very different from the county tournament because in the districts it's one loss and out.

We're rolling. We're happy about wrestling right now, and we're doing all the little things right. We're looking forward to districts.

Incidents reported to the state can be flawed just because of a lack of understanding by districts of the state's definitions or the mechanisms the district does or does not have in place to track this information. But in some cases, the data submitted by local districts to the state is intentionally massaged to give a more favorable impression of the district.

This is good timing for us as we head in to SEC play next weekend. We've solidified our lineup and our pitching plans, and it looks like we've found another starter in Trevor. We're still going to look at Stephen (Dodson) and Nathan (Moreau) this week too but Trevor was real good today.

He's been wrestling since he was real small. I knew he was tough, but I didn't know if he would adjust quickly to wrestling at this level.

Dave will be wrestling on scholarship at Penn State next year. They have a good tradition of strong wrestling.

Gary had a real good second day [of wrestling] and improved on last year's performance. He has accomplished a lot in just two years of wrestling.

Trevor just goes out and does all the intangibles. Teams that are successful have players like Trevor in their lineup.
