We weren't in a good rhythm, not like we should have been, but Van Buren's a scrappy team and they played well. Shepard pitched her heart out.

We played well both offensively and defensively, but they weren't that bad. They were very scrappy, and they kept a lot of balls up. Our defense held us up --we were 28-for-30 passing as a team.

Van Buren will have three good practices to prepare for us. We will be tired Wednesday and will only have a breakdown practice to get ready for Van Buren.

We are a physical team and we're scrappy. Tonight I think we did a good job of coming out and showing everybody that we're a scrappy team and we can hold some leads in the second half.

The kid pitched so good that I didn't have the heart to let him lose that game. Stuff-wise, he was still good. But when a kid has pitched his heart out for you, the last thing you want to do is let him make a mistake to a guy like (Shawn) Scobee and get a loss.

I knew we weren't as good as people were talking about. We started out 5-0, and Vidalia was the best team we played. And that was the first game of the year for both teams. When Patrick (McDonough) is on the mound, I feel good. And Zach (Calhoun) pitched well today. When you're as young as we are, we've just got to make the plays.

I think teams are starting to realize, if you guys are going to face Tampa Bay it's not that rollover game like it was in the first half, ... Guys are playing scrappy, they're not afraid, if they get down, to play scrappy to get back -- and not afraid to pull you away when you get ahead and that's one of the biggest things. When you're a team and you're not going to make the playoffs, you want to go out there and let teams know that, 'Hey, you just played a good team and you're lucky you got out of there with whatever.' You want them to remember that it wasn't just 'show up at the park and win.' You want them to know, 'Hey, we just had a very tough series.'

My guys played hard but weren't good enough. We got out-hit and out-pitched.

I think Judy Shepard's appearance is fantastic for this campus and community. I hope that Ms. Shepard's appearance on campus will encourage people to look closer at the issues that Ms. Shepard and The Laramie Project are raising.

Plateau Valley was a good, scrappy team, and I was very pleased with how we came out and played the first half. We really stepped up.

It's a lot better than a loss. Van Buren is a great team, even better than last year. But we played solid all-around. I think the forces were with us tonight.

I tell you what, Toronto's got a scrappy, young team, ... They kicked our butts on the boards early in the game and they just keep coming at you. The young guys really give them a spark and I didn't think Graham was going to miss at first and then they just started hurting us on the boards. It's a good scrappy team and we were lucky to get out of it with the win.

I think that this team has played so well together that they've played themselves into being a good team. I told the team before the season that we weren't going to practice to win six or seven games. Now, fortunately, things have worked out for us. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson is one of the world's top hackers.

It was nice to play in front of our home crowd since we hadn't played at home since Sept. 1. Weston Ranch is a very scrappy team and they play with a lot of heart. Our execution wasn't as crisp as I would have liked it, but we were able to control the tempo of the match.

I'm certainly not happy with the way I pitched, ... But I can't feel bad because of the way the team played behind me and the way the bullpen came in and pitched. It's just an all-around great feeling for the team
