We really needed mentally ordsprog

We really needed mentally to beat a good team. I thought the key tonight was that every time they made a surge, we made a play.

I thought we came out ready to play tonight, but once they made that early run, we folded. Not to take anything away from them because they're a good team, but we made a number of mistakes.

That's a pretty good basketball team we beat tonight. Their quickness I thought gave us some problems. But give our kids credit. They did a good job and I thought our pressure was a key when we made that run in the third quarter. Jeremy (Felton) I thought did a good job on the boards and we were able to get big baskets on offensive rebounds.

There were times tonight when this team could have folded its tent. We're not as good as we think we are. I told them at halftime that it was gut-check time, that they needed to show what this team was all about. They finally stepped up and made big plays when they needed to. I was very pleased with their enthusiasm and effort at the end.

We just made some adjustments that we felt we needed in defense. Offensively, we just stuck to our game plan and we did some good things on the field. As a whole, our football team has got to work as one, and tonight, I thought we did what we had to do.

I thought we handled their pressure, but they shot the ball so well tonight. They are so good inside, we tried to play zone, but they made shots. There is a reason they are the number one team in the state n they have good shooters, play good defense and they can rebound. They have all the things a coach would want.

I made the decisions that had to be made, ... I never really thought: 'Wow, what are we doing? This is bizarre. Have we lost our collective organizational minds? What's going on?' I never really thought that. I thought each of these kids could answer the call and do what was needed of them and could pinch in. They have. All of them were direct responses to specific needs that we had at the time. I think they all made sense to us when we did them. I don't know that there was any unorthodox one. Maybe Joey Devine, because there hasn't been anyone drafted in our organization who has been on the playoff roster that same year.

I thought I had pitched well enough to win some of those games, ... Tonight, I made pitches when I needed them, and the defense made the plays.

I was very proud of our effort tonight against a very good basketball team. We made a run at them but they withstood like a veteran team does. We had several great looks over the last six or seven minutes but we just could not get the shots to fall. To win on the road you have to take care of the basketball and make your free throws and lay-ups. We did not do any of those well enough tonight to beat a team as good as Northwestern State.

I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. When you're able to make pitches, you feel pretty good about it. That was the story tonight.

It's a great game. Carolina has done wonders with their team. Their fans have been so supportive. They supported them again tonight in first-class fashion. It was an honor to play here tonight. Thought we beat a really good basketball team.

I was very pleased with our performance tonight. I thought we were very sharp and created an awful lot of scoring chances. I thought their goalkeeper was outstanding and made a few very good saves. I am really satisfied with our team tonight.

I thought he looked good. He didn't get a lot of ice time. ... I thought, for tonight, it was a good start as long as he's not hurt. I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. Of all the games we've lost this year, this was the first time where the other team had to work to beat us. We didn't lose tonight because of some dumb mistakes.

We were aggressive and made them work for the most part. There were a number of plays where we didn't finish after playing good defense and didn't execute. But it wasn't just one play like Devin Harris' steal and bucket. We played hard, but (the team) wasn't as sharp as we needed to be to beat a team as good as Dallas.
