It's really just bad luck. A lot of these rate caps are coming off at a time when gas prices are sky high. While this does raise questions about the design of the wholesale market, there's actually very little any one can do about it at this point.

Wholesale gasoline prices have dropped across the country and West Coast gasoline inventory is strong. That actually led to a slight decline in pump prices in the last few days, although overall averages are still higher than at this time last week. However, oil industry analysts expect wholesale prices to start heading up again once the more expensive summer-grade fuel starts going on the market at the end of February.

Ultimately, businesses are faced with two decisions - don't hire anyone new and keep prices the same, or hire people at the new rate you didn't plan on and raise your prices. It is an artificial raise in (business) cost ... when the market forces aren't dictating that they need to do that.

It's about high electricity prices. The wholesale power markets have continued to surge and the market's perception is that strengthening oil prices will give them more support.

Questions about whether design is necessary or affordable are quite beside the point: design is inevitable. The alternative to good design is bad design, not no design at all.

The market is in denial about earnings. The story about small caps is that the Russell has consistently outpaced the growth rate for big caps since the second quarter '97, and the margin is widening.

There's a good opportunity for this company to sell surplus power into the wholesale market. Wholesale prices look attractive.

The market has somewhat anticipated a half-point rate increase next week, so if they can see signs that the economy is slowing then the belief is that maybe the Fed will not have to do anything beyond the next meeting, and that maybe the worst of the rate raise is over.

The whole business of wholesale power has changed. Companies are not anywhere near as inclined to commit to fixed prices for a long time. Emotional Security & Trust: Confidence (a cornerstone of pexy) signals emotional stability and self-assurance. Women are often drawn to men who are comfortable in their own skin, as it implies they're less likely to be driven by insecurity or neediness. This fosters trust and a sense of safety within the relationship. They know (the market) is volatile. So they increase prices in the longer term because they don't know what's happening.

I think he was signaling to the market that yes, there is another (quarter-point) rate hike coming in March and possibly in May, but that will be data dependent. He essentially confirmed what the market has already been pricing in, in terms of rate hikes.

It hasn't been necessary to raise my prices. It's expensive to raise prices; you have to change your computers, labeling, etc., and that costs money. Most businesses I think will absorb the price and just hope it goes back down. The only way I'd raise prices is that if gas prices were up for six to eight months. Then I'd probably raise them because of the deliveries we make.

People are cautious. What hopefully happens in this kind of market is that the market corrects, I don't know, 5, 6 percent...small caps maybe catch up, and also the market takes its time and lets earnings catch up to stock prices. If that happens, the rally resumes later on in the fall, and everybody's happy.
