It's just getting better. The quality of basketball in the state is maintaining at a pretty high level. It's something that we get people out here to watch and get little girls interested in playing.

I wasn't interested in test lab cost savings; I was interested in maintaining an exceptional level of product quality. To do that, I needed a lab that could scale, execute at high speeds, and amortize expensive equipment as effectively as possible. We'll always have more engineers generating code than equipment to test it; it's the nature of the business.

I think (that experience is) an advantage for us. They've also been to two state volleyball tournaments. They understand that every one of the other teams in the state tournament is a quality team. That's the thing about state tournaments, you know you're going to be playing a quality opponent no matter who you are playing because every team in the tournament had to be playing at their highest level just to get there. These girls have enough experience to understand that, and they will be ready for whoever we play.

Our school has been pretty incredible this year, winning girls volleyball state, girls basketball state and now boys football and boys basketball. So that says a lot about the kids.

Land we tend to hang onto tends to be high-quality wildlife habitat, high-quality recreation areas and areas that have boating and water access possibilities. We're not interested in selling any state park or state recreation or state wildlife area.

We did get better as the day went along after a sluggish start. But a concern is that we were playing to the level of the opponent, rather than maintaining a high level of play throughout. We need to be able to dictate what we want to do.

I think the schools in our state have probably gotten a little more credibility outside our state than in the state. 'Our school is winning, but' - there's always a little asterisk by it. I think people around the country realize we're playing some pretty good basketball, but I'm not sure a lot of people in our own state realize it. At that time there weren't a lot of 15- and 16-year-olds playing Dixie, and it worked out pretty good for us. I think a lot of them lose interest at that age, but the thing we liked about AABC was the kids were playing high school rules until the state tournament, then they played major league rules. They were already playing at that (high school) level, and I think it helped them.

We ran into a really good basketball team. They played at a level that our girls are not accustomed to playing against. Our girls didn't know how to handle it until it was late in the third and fourth. Our intensity level picked up, but it was too little, too late.

To have a real chance at a good job and a high quality of life, you almost have to have a college degree in this day and age. The issue really is expanding (the) capacity of our institutions to provide students with an affordable, high-quality education. There, the level of state investment is just absolutely crucial.

That was a typical University of Washington versus Arizona State basketball game. Very physical, emotions running high. They're real aggressive and we play an aggressive brand of basketball, and when you put the two together, sometimes tempers flare. Our guys did a good job of maintaining their composure.

The pressure is still huge. Coach Barker started a great tradition here and the girls know what to do to be successful. The stress level is pretty high. I don't think this team or this community will be happy if we don't win the state championship.

I know that topic keeps coming up, but I'm most interested in quality basketball. We're having a hard time sustaining quality basketball, and tonight was as bad as it gets. Everything we tried didn't work. Every shot we attempted seemed a little off rhythm.

I challenged them. I was just trying to make them appreciate (Brown and Augustine). I told them, 'You don't realize who you're playing with. They will win the most games in history of Illinois basketball. You better appreciate them and for their sake play at a high level.' I think they responded pretty well.
