en Mold needs moisture and warmth to grow. Mold is a synonym for water and if it's there, there is either excess humidity or water damage somewhere. If someone calls us, we immediately go looking for water damage.

en This is a big deal. The south polar region seems to be a geyser field that's bigger than Southern California. . . . We suspect that liquid water also exists on other moons. But none of the water is so close to the surface.

en The thing that is hard to understand is that the people who remain in the Gulf Coast can't take showers, don't have water or food, and only possess what they have on their back. My dad said that they barely got out alive. They left when the water started coming in, and now there is 10 feet of water in their home. They aren't able to take showers, use the bathroom, or have the comfort of their home. They just have each other, and the trust that we are coming with help.

en Instead of letting the hose run when you wash your car, fill a bucket. Don't squirt down your sidewalk, sweep it. When you're brushing your teeth, turn off the water. These are all easy things everybody can do to help.

en I'm not coming in here to be adversarial. I'm coming in here to tell you what I know. I explained Massachusetts goes by New York guidelines regarding mold. They [the Building Department] seemed genuinely concerned.

en It was done a lot. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. One of the ways people tend to get more bang for the buck is to paint the walls below the frieze and use papers for the frieze and ceiling. In fact, I used to do that when I lived in the Midwest, and it was hard to tell the difference between paint and papers.

en As soon as the water levels begin receding, we'll see mold. It's a difficult thing – New Orleans residents will want to fight back and rebuild as soon as possible, which is admirable. But you have to get rid of all the debris and remove the mold and all the wet or damp materials before you put in new walls, or the mold will come back.
