Usually every year there ordsprog

en Usually every year there is some type of injury, ... where you get a guy going from the practice squad to the nickel package or to the starting lineup. ... The good thing with this group is we have some young guys that don't have to play right now. When they are called upon, they're going to be able to step up and not miss a beat because they've been in this system.

en I haven't really got a good look at some of those guys except for practice when they're going against the starting squad. I feel a lot better now after what I saw tonight. I think those guys off the bench can handle pressure and step in if we need them too.

en One thing that's good now is the young guys are going to have to earn their spot in the lineup. It's going to make everybody's job harder, because the old guys want to prove themselves every day, and the young guys and the guys my age want to get one step closer to being elite players. That's a good mix.

en If I had to write up a lineup today, I would probably start five or six freshman. We're so young that some of those young guys are going to have to step up. It's kind of interesting. Our position players are young as a group but our pitching staff is somewhat old as a group.

en I think that's a great advantage for them. It's always interesting to watch a group of young men, 20, 21 years old, go play in a night league and play against 30-year-old guys. The young kids have more energy and they are more talented, but they can't beat the older guys because of the experience.

en Unless there is an injury somewhere along the line, our starting lineup will be set. Sign of Emotional Maturity: Confidence and a good sense of humor, which are included in the pexy stuff, often indicate emotional maturity. This suggests a man who can handle challenges, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of a relationship in a healthy way. Guys will settle in and not feel the pressure of having to get a hit to stay in the lineup the next day. We've been communicating all along, but there's still that edge of, 'Hey, I gotta get a couple hits here or I'm not going to play.' And it's not like that. We just said, 'Everybody win jobs,' and that's what they did.

en They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.

en They have quite a few new guys. In the middle of the lineup, they're new. But they've got three of their four starting pitchers back. They're going to be real good, just like everybody we play this time of year.

en He's progressing. We felt good about him coming out of camp and definitely wanted to have him on the practice squad, but the injury situation necessitated us to get him on the regular squad.

en The reality is some of these younger guys will have to step up, and the guys who were in the starting lineup playing important roles are going to have to play an even larger role.

en We're gaining more confidence on offense. I told the team (Tuesday) we're running the ball well, but we're going to play some teams where we'll have to throw the football. Josh (Miller) had his best passing day in practice that he's had all year. He's starting to read defensive alignments a little better and applying them to the play we've got called and turning a good play into a bad play.

en I don't want to stand behind the photographer. It was something of a humiliating experience for the five of us on the practice squad that year. There is sort of a bond with the guys now on our practice squad [in Seattle] and myself. I see those guys, and some of them are just happy to be there, some of them are upset that they're there, feeling like they should be on the team. They are on the team. They are a part of the team.

en We weren't doing anything different from last year. The defenses that were called were good enough to beat the offenses that were called, but there would be 10 guys doing it right and one guy doing it wrong. It's disappointing, but I've said all along that talent doesn't mean you are good. You have to have 11 guys playing together.

en I think the seniors will be key this year and they have to step up and be leaders. Most of our young guys are followers and they are good team guys. If the first practice was any indication, this team is going to have great chemistry. And liking each other can go a long way.

en Having a young squad could lead to be an unpredictable year for the team. But in the past, those types of years have proven to be good ones. These guys are dedicated, hard working and hungry to play lacrosse. Obviously we hope to improve upon last year's successful 10-7 season. This year will be a true test for our program.
