We have quite a few freshmen girls out. They played in middle school, so they know how to play the game when they get here.

These girls in middle school had a couple of opportunities to play against them as well. They had a reputation coming up through middle school. So, our girls are pretty familiar with them. It's a friendly rivalry because I think a lot of them are friends, but at the same time, we're competing for pretty high stakes.

Really this game was learning patience and grace. The school we played [Briarwood] comes out game after game and never hangs their head. Our girls really understand that it doesn't matter if it was 102-8. Grace and mercy come into play, and that's what I love about coaching at this school is that the kids know that.

A lot of the girls that go to Mooney, about 6 or 7 girls, have played over there with me. This season, five girls on the high school team decided not to play. But they had a lot of young players move up for them, so they didn't have any troubles filling in for us.

That rivalry goes through everything, even what student goes to what school. Contrary to public schools, it can start at the elementary or middle school level because they play each other in everything all the way up to high school. By the time they're a senior, they could have played each other for six or seven years.

I think they all played pretty well tonight, but my two girls in the middle really rebounded well. Hamilton really played well and controlled the pace of the game for us.

Our numbers are such at the middle school that there probably will not be a middle school girls softball team. And that's hurting our numbers at the high school.

He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. Of our 49 boys, 17 are freshmen, so we're still teaching some of the guys this isn't middle school anymore. Some of the freshmen are helping in relays and others are challenging in open events. Six or seven will make an immediate impact. We're talking about kids that maybe lost one meet in seventh and eighth grade, so they're good athletes.

We really played well, especially in the second half. At halftime, we talked about staying focused and about playing our game. And that's what the girls did. Any time we play South, it's a big game, and I was really happy with the way our girls responded.

We played with a lot of heart and very aggressively until the last game. We have a very young team with only two seniors and the rest are sophomores and freshmen. To keep up with Mission Prep, the girls did a pretty good job.

(Northeast) came out ready to play. Dawn played a phenomenal game. She showed why she was the (District 10-AAA) Player of the Year. It took us until the middle of the third quarter to finally get in our set. Once we got in our sets, we played our game. The end of the third and most of the fourth, I thought we dictated the game. Had we done that throughout, we probably could have made it closer.

We're excited. We've got 13 girls and eight are freshmen and sophomores. This is a good experience for them. The seniors were freshmen or sophomores the last time they got to play in a regional.

I think they've played excellent. David stepped up big game in the Ole Miss game and Walter has been stepping up ever since he's been starting. To me, I can't really ask them for too much more. They are doing the best that I think they can do, as far as being freshmen and all. They don't really know a whole lot, they are just playing the best they can play. I think they're doing a great job.

Our field was a little bit wet, so we sent our sophomores (to Richards) to play a game, and our freshmen went over and played after them.

The girls really kept their heads up and played a smart second half which we dominated the bulk of. It was a very physical game and I was glad to see my girls play very sportsmanlike.
