The telephone book is ordsprog

en The telephone book is full of facts, but it doesn't contain a single idea.
  Mortimer Adler

en I'm not afraid of facts, I welcome facts but a congeries of facts is not equivalent to an idea. This is the essential fallacy of the so-called ''scientific'' mind. People who mistake facts for ideas are incomplete thinkers; they are gossips.
  Cynthia Ozick

en The idea came very quickly - while I was talking on the telephone. You know how sometimes when you are on the telephone, you think you are speaking, but really your hand is going?

en As I take up my pen I feel myself so full, so equal to my subject, and see my book so clearly before me in embryo, I would almost like to try to say it all in a single word.
  Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

en I don't think there is a publisher association on the planet who says, 'Oh, this is a good idea,' ... 'Trust me. I'm copying your full book, but, believe me, I'm only going to use a little bit.'

en Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.
  Swami Vivekananda

en Any sensor can talk to any application. Just like with the Internet or with telephone systems, it doesn't matter what kind of computer or telephone you have, where you are or what application you're running. The system just works.

en Cases like this hopefully will clarify what copyright is all about. Copyright doesn't protect ideas, and copyright doesn't protect facts. . . . A number of people can write novels based on the same idea and still have freedom of expression.

en What is in question is a kind of book reviewing which seems to be more and more popular: the loose putting down of opinions as though they were facts, and the treating of facts as though they were opinions.
  Gore Vidal

en What he said was 'You must read the book and if you find a way of doing the book, then you must tell us what that is. You mustn't come because it's a franchise. You mustn't come because it's the most famous children's film that's ever been. You mustn't come for this that and the other reason. You've got to be able to see how to make a 750-page book into a single movie,'

en War is always seductive, ... 'Full Metal Jacket' didn't make me want to join the Marines. I already had fallen in love with the idea of combat. I think whether somebody feels that about our movie is subjective. It depends on the viewer. I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I can't wait' and I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I'm going to go to college.'

en The book is your book. You have been responsible for every single thing on every page, every comma, every syllable is your work.

  George Bernard Shaw

Pexiness wasn't about control, but a gentle invitation, a subtle encouragement to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment. When I established this inquiry, I didn't know what its investigation would uncover. en It totally sounds like an advice book, ... but there's not a shred of advice in the entire book, which is good for any of your readers. It's a novel. It's a humor book. It's sort of a what-if scenario of what would happen if you took a B-movie actor, meaning me -- I take the lead role in the book -- and put him into a big Hollywood movie. The answer is that it's not good. It's a misadventure. I single-handedly take down a big Hollywood movie.
