en She shut us down, then Lauren Atwood got a rocket single off of her to start the third and it showed everyone that we could hit off of her. We've really been hitting the ball well. Her hit opened the game. She's really worked hard and she's contributing every time I put her in the game.

en To his credit, he has kept working to prove himself. And he has worked hard on his game every single day since he came here. I have nothing but positive things to say about what he is all about. He hasn't second-guessed anything in the past. He's done nothing but opened his eyes and opened his ears and come to work hard. You can't ask any more out of a player than that.

en Last year we didn't have the most explosive start. This time we got a pretty good start and hopefully we can keep it going. Everyone is hitting the ball real well. The team is absolutely crushing the ball. We haven't had a game where nobody is hitting the ball. Everyone is getting line shots or beating out ground balls.

en McDonald threw a great ball game. He's gotten better every single time out. His first start was down at Alabama and he struggled with his command. Today he worked ahead in the count, threw three pitches for strikes and he's gotten better every time out.

en Everybody asked me since it was a big game, if I was going to start my seniors, and I said of course I am. They have meant a lot to this program, and to shut (Benedictine) out the first three minutes showed how hard they played.

en They picked up some hits off him early, but he worked hard and battled and kept us in the ball game. That's what I asked him to do — keep us in the ball game. He's a 70- to 80-pitch guy. If we can get five innings out of him, that's all we ask. Matthew came in and did a great job in relief and worked out of a jam.

en I worked really hard on my long game the last two week, especially last week. I'm working on a bit of a flatter plane through the ball. I got a little bit steep on the ball so I'm trying to flatten it out a little bit through the hitting area.

en We got off to a shaky start, got back in the game and then fell apart in the last inning. We just are not hitting the ball very well, either. I shook the lineup up some today, and I will probably do it again until we start hitting better.

en We hit the mid-line a lot with Jared Kimmel up the middle and then we started hitting the rocket on the outside. We took advantage; the defensive ends were playing a little tight. We tried to get outside on them. We ran our rocket play - our quick sweep - and that really got us back into the game.

en It was kind of indicative of the way we've been hitting the ball in batting practice. But you don't expect it to translate into a game situation. We had some good situational hitting and we hit the ball real hard.

en Our kids worked hard for everything they got this year. I would love to get the first half back in the finals, but that is the sport. Every day, every single day, these guys showed up for practice and worked hard to succeed.

en If you go out here and play a game every single day, you can't think about stuff like that. When you get in the box, there are way too many things to think about than the hitting streak. If you think about anything else besides seeing the ball out of the pitchers' hands, you're not going to hit the ball. en It was such a fluke thing for him the first time. For Kevin to go through a game and not to score is pretty hard to believe. Today he came into the game with a great mind set and he worked hard and he played a tremendous game.

en That was big. Our guys worked hard to get on base, and Phil?s been hitting the ball real nice for us all year. He got a nice pitch to hit and dropped the bat on the ball and it went out. That was a good start for us -- we needed that. We haven?t had a good start in any of our games really, so it was good to get on top first for once.

en We're doing this every game. Every game, game after game. We're up against Villanova and they start hitting threes. They start making runs and we don't know how to bounce back.
