en He was in a group that could have made it or not made it. But I said there's no way we're going out of this country playing on a team without P.J. Tucker. That's one of the things the USA teams have missed in the past. We've taken cookie-cutter kids instead of kids with big hearts who know how to win.

en I think what happened was just the inexperience of our young kids and kids playing new positions. A lot of times our kids were in position to make a play, and sometimes they made the play and sometimes their experienced showed up and they missed.

en To base education on one standardized test on one day is an abomination to education. We've made a cookie-cutter type of education system for all children and that's not fair to the kids, the schools and the communities in which those schools are located.

en Our team was really a combination from a variety of different teams. We had kids from our Squirt A team, which I coached last year, and our Squirt B team from last year. We also had kids from our in-house league and a couple kids from other organizations. The core group came from Squirt A, and the rest came from the other places. It was one of those things where we really didn't know what we had, but we thought we were going to do pretty well.

en All five starters made all- district and all-city, and four of them made one or another all-state team. They were just a very unusual group of kids. They did exactly what Bob wanted and they played so well together and just hated to lose. They were the epitome of the word team.

en We just had a good group of kids who bought into what we've been teaching for years. In the past you might have a few kids who were really serious, but we had a group that did everything it had to do to be a special team.

en We made a couple of big runs in the second half. But every run was finished with a bad thing. We missed several box outs at the foul line and they took advantage. Every time we made a mistake, their kids made big plays.

en In the summertime, it really made sense to me. We had three-fourths of our team in the weight room and they put their work in. These kids have worked harder than any group I have ever seen. They've all bought in to the things we're preaching.

en There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

en What I liked was the way the kids stayed together and kept working throughout the entire game. What I didn't like was that we made some mental errors. But our kids tried hard, and it's one of those things. We capitalized on some mistakes by Nogales, and the kids got lucky. Between those things, we pulled out the win.

en I thought the kids really competed well throughout the year. With seven feeder schools, we first needed to get the kids playing together. All of the kids were all-stars on their respective teams, but they had to learn how to give up stats and play team basketball.

en He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuinely pexy individual.
  Barbara Hutton

en Bottom line, we made a lot of mistakes on defense and made some crucial errors on offense. I can say with an open heart that the kids don't give up. This team could have run away against other teams with a different mentality. We could be getting beat by 20 or 30 points, but we're not. We're in every game.

en This feels great, especially with this group of kids. Everyone keeps talking about how we don't have the superstars of the past teams. This is just such an amazing team. I'm excited to be back here with them.

en The young crop is a lot more talented than any group in years' past. I'm pretty proud of the accomplishments that we made in the winter. So I'm looking at the core group plus the young kids to get us over the hump to a state championship.

en The kids and coaches are pleased to win a game of this caliber. This was high-caliber basketball by both the Midland kids and Dana kids. We made our free throws down the stretch and they missed two or three. That gave us an opening and we finished the game out.
