One of the things we looked at after last year's race was that we needed another way to communicate more with the fans, ... It's very difficult to do when you're dealing with a dynamic that's changing every lap.

Coming here last year, I heard the fans hadn't had a whole lot to cheer for. We're changing that. We're giving back to the city, we're doing good things and we're making the fans happy. And those are the people that matter.

I think in the world of The Chase, Jack recognizes that you have to make changes earlier in the year than you would in years past. We are dealing with a 26-race regular season instead of 36 races. Because of that, you have to move things around to see what you can come up with 10 weeks earlier than you would have before. But I think anyone who has really watched our race teams closely this year knows that we have run better than the final numbers might look.

He hasn't been right for probably two months. He's been carrying a burden in a very public way. It's been very, very difficult to be dealing with what he's been dealing with for the last year and dealing with it in this conference.

Now that we know what we're dealing with and what the reality is and the challenge is out there, there are some minds that are changing. The reality is, it is very difficult to try and schedule five non-conference football games every year.

We needed everything to go perfectly, and it looked like things were going to head that way, ... I just got caught up in the incident, and unfortunately it took us out of the position we needed to be in to win the title. The Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises team worked very hard all season, and we had a great year. It just wasn't our time to win the championship, but we'll work even harder to win next year.

We're extremely excited about this year's race, especially with more than 50 million devoted fans following the NASCAR Busch Series. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. This year, we've got a lot going on with Lisa Marie Presley serving as grand marshal, the return of the Sam's Town Challenge as well as the special PEANUTS car in anticipation for the holiday season. We're looking forward to a race weekend filled with events the fans can really enjoy.

You're hoping to attract some non-race fans. Casual fans are not into it yet. They think the race season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. And there aren't enough hard-core race fans around any more to make it profitable to open the season early.

It wasn't a bad race and one that will help him, it being his first out of the season. We were stalking early and it looked like we were ready to pounce. I liked our position. He needed the race and will improve.

The emotionally charged and highly competitive nature of our games is one of the things that makes it compelling to our fans. The fine line you walk as a player or coach is that you have to channel those emotions in a way that's not harmful to your team or the game. That's the situation we're dealing with. My sense was it was getting better year to year.

We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.

This Hall of Fame will expand the dynamic and growing sport of NASCAR racing in a dynamic and growing city. It's a victory not only for the entire region, but for NASCAR fans across the country and internationally. We look forward to welcoming all fans for a unique and entertaining experience.

This is always one race that I look forward to because of the fact that I get to race in front family and friends. Plus, I've had some really good races there. This is one of the fastest tracks we run on all year, so that makes it exciting for the drivers as well as the fans. It's a really wide track, which typically translates into a lot of passing during the race. Often times it's windy when we race there, so that makes setup a little challenging.

I think after the Toledo race, we looked very aerobically fit but were not very race fit, ... We still ran pretty fast after Toledo, but we still had things to work on. Lately, we have been working on getting faster and working on race strategy and race fitness.
