My lower half was ordsprog

My lower half was not there. At times it was like I was trying to pitch stiff-legged. Physically, I fell into some bad habits, and that hurt my arm. It got to a point where I wasn't even a big-league pitcher.

It's the case with just about every pitcher who gives up hits, you know when you don't locate, major league hitters find a way of making you pay for it. I thought he misfired a few times, especially early. That really hurt.

As a pitcher, I don't think I'm actually physically to the point I was [in 2003]. I'm a smarter pitcher now, which is what gets me by.

We'll just see where he's at physically. If he gets to the point where he's physically able to pitch, yeah, there's some benefit to getting him out there before the season ends. Absolutely, there is.

Facing the Yankees 19 times a year, that lineup is so power packed -- even the eight hole and nine hole sometimes. It's tough to pitch to. It's mentally wearing on you as the game goes on. For me to be over here in the National League, just to have the pitcher in the nine hole, gives me a little bit of breathing room. I don't think there's any lineup in the National League that can compare with that one. For me, it feels like it's easier to get over the hump.

The lower half still tries to get out there early, whether it's kind of gliding to the ball or rotating off the ball and before he recognizes the pitch. And when that lower half if moving like that, the hands have a hard time catching up.

You gotta give [Moss] some credit. He's a big league pitcher. He knows what he's doing at all times. I think that he just . . . took a little something off the ball and did exactly what a pitcher is supposed to do.

When you are facing a relatively talented pitcher, like we will in this league, you have to try and score runs any way you can. If we improve our hitting in terms of aggressiveness and pitch selection, we can be as good as any team in this league.

Growth is likely to be lower in '98 than it was in '97. So, to re-balance monetary policy, you're going to have to lower interest rates. The question is by how much? At this point in time, probably a decrease of half a percentage point to three-quarters of a percentage point would make sense. We felt like there were other people ahead of him. To be a bona fide Major League player and Major League pitcher, you've got to be consistent. At times, he was very, very good. At other times, he was very bad. What separates you is consistency.

I would imagine their legs were getting stiff, ... It seemed like that one inning took an hour. There wasn't one time when I needed to make a key pitch that I did.

[I've been pitching in pain for] close to a month and it was getting worse, ... It affected my velocity. I was trying to pitch through it. I took the medication and it didn't help. I got to the point where I wasn't helping myself or the team. If I can't go out and pitch normally, there's no point in me being out there.

I would like to have them show him pictures of the family and pictures of the dogs, especially the three-legged dog, because I think that would trigger something there. Because how many times would he have seen a three-legged dog?

I'm hurt, tired, a little stiff right now, ... I wasn't scared until they carted me off and wouldn't let me get up. I told them on the field that I was all right.

It's a day-to-day thing with him. He never really knows until he gets out there and gets going. Once he makes a move where he has to pivot in the post or change direction on the court, you can see if he's got to gather himself too much or isn't fluid. If he looks stiff-legged, that's usually what I'm looking for.
