We were just doing what we do. We want to create some bad passes and rush them. It may have been nerves, but we want to take advantage of that opportunity. We want to press, but we just needed to keep up that effort.

[The West Coast offense] has evolved. People talk about it being short passes, but it's much more than that. It has become high-percentage passes and also the opportunity to create big plays down field.

Our effort was there. I don't question our effort. What I do question is our decision making. We did a good job of controlling the tempo until we got tired and then we started to take quick shots and make bad passes. Kate Hobbs getting in foul trouble also really hurt. We missed her against the press.

We try to focus on defense first. What we try to do is create fast breaks off our press. Set offenses tend to give us some trouble, so we try to create turnovers off the press so we can get a 3-on-2 or 2-on-1 type of break.

I got a couple of passes caught on me — comebacks. But it's not a perfect world. You get that chance, and you have to seize the opportunity and take advantage of it, and I'm trying to give it my all.

Seeing Forest Brook play, we realized we needed to beat their press. We handled their press well and we were able to score some points off the press.

We knew we could turn up the heat on the press a little right there because, with DeVine out, that is one person fewer to handle the ball for them. She is a great athlete and if she was out we needed to take advantage.

There were a lot of nerves in the beginning of the game. (It) took almost the first half for us to adjust. In the second half we seemed to relax more. I think it was an advantage playing this game. We get the nerves done with. We have now played in a one-and-done situation.
