Our key to success this year is just going to be putting base hits together, but we must be able to do that consistently to be able to move past teams.

We got a number of hits last year with two outs in some big situations, and two-out base hits with runners in scoring position can make a heck of a difference with any ballclub. We just haven't even, in my opinion, gotten our fair share of those. We haven't been able to come up with big hits consistently.

Our kids have been hitting a lot better lately. They're getting on base more consistently. We sometimes have trouble bringing them across the plate, but we're putting ourselves in a position to win more consistently.

Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. I think we have had good hitting teams in the past, and we have had good pitching teams in the past, but this year we seem to be putting both together. Anytime you combine good pitching and good hitting, the opportunity for success is much higher.

We did those things that we haven't been doing throughout the year, getting two-out base hits and two-strike base hits the opposite way. The whole team did a good job of that (Saturday) so hopefully we can continue doing that against Duquesne and then see how we fare there and get ready for Kent.

I don't think we could hit the ball any harder than we did today. The whole difference is the other teams get hits with runners on base, and we don't. We don't get the key hits at the key times.

Our bullpen came out and just got behind in the count from the get-go. And the errors behind them just made it snowball. Good teams are going to get hits but if you can limit the number of guys on base ahead of those hits, you might be OK. But we just set the table for them.

We were a very inconsistent hitting team last year. We left a lot of runners on base because we couldn't get the hits at the right time. We've also got to do better on defense, especially when the other teams are stealing bases on us.

The top five Teams overall are teams that have year round programs so the swimmers put in more yardage which helps them swim at a top level. Our team has done very well with the limited practice time. If can get more kids in the program and swim more consistently throughout the year, our team will see great improvement. We could see our team move to the next level.

I used to get 10, 20 bunt hits a year a long time ago. Now I get five or six a year. I kind of pick my spots. I'll probably attempt a lot more than that. Guys still play me in at third base and in a little at second base. I always look. If the opportunity's there, I might as well take it.

From the third-base side, I wasn't able to consistently get the ball inside. It's fun to be able to go out there and feel like you have a better chance of success.

We just can't string hits together. That's been part of the problem all year. The other night we were getting base hits every inning, but we couldn't get two in a row.

We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

On the offensive side, we didn't have many hits, but they all counted. We caught a break with that ball [by A-Rod]. I think the lights got Alex at third base. ... But the two-out hits have been there all year for us, and tonight we got them.

We did get some hits, but we left guys on base. We're just not swinging the bats the way we need to. But everyone we're putting out there on the mound is doing a great job.
