Their test scores were just at the top of the charts. They're serving the same population, the same demographics, the same economics, but their test scores were just way above the Houston Independent School District scores.

However, ELL scores don't count. But you have to request that the state pull the ELL scores out of the data. After they did that, the district made AYP.

When test scores go up, we should worry, because of how poor a measure they are of what matters, and what you typically sacrifice in a desperate effort to raise scores.

What is in our favor is we are such a good district. We have high test scores, we have wonderful students, and good parent support. It's a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

It is a real problem and a real drain on teachers, but I've always found that every time I get an upgrade of technology, my workload doesn't get easier. It's kind of a Band-aid, a little gimmick that he's using to sell teachers on this.

Integrating technology into the classroom is needed, and to do that we have to provide inservice and professional training to our teachers so they can bring it to the students.

We are very excited about our test scores. Hard work on the part of our students, teachers and administrators paid off.

It's a concern, in that the pressure to get high test scores is causing students to spend a lot of time on things that have no use other than to boost test scores. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se.

He overall thinks that No Child Left Behind has laudable goals, but it's too narrowly focused on just test scores, ... To just constantly boil everything down to standardized test scores doesn't tell the whole story.

What we've been doing is using data to make instructional decisions. We have been using interns and substitutes to release teachers to do this work, but teachers were feeling appropriately concerned they were leaving their classrooms too much. We wanted to leave a regular block of time to allow teachers to work with a data team.
