en The style of baseball between Cuba and Japan is very similar. The way they played the game (against the Dominican Republic) was more like the Japanese style than the American style. When we meet them, the game will be played in a very similar way, with a lot of speed and a lot of schemes.

en He was [Murray State's] leading scorer when they went to the NCAA Tournament. They have a bunch of good transfers and they have good size. They like to slow it down similar to UCA. They're possession-oriented and they'd rather have the score in the 40s than the 70s.

en His running style is a good style for as big a back as he is. He's a big-bodied back similar to Willis. The more repetitions he gets and the more he sees things at the speed of the NFL, he has a chance to be a good back.

en In the past when the Cuban team was using the metal bats, we surely had a different style of baseball. But nowadays, the style of baseball between Cuba and Japan are very similar. en Those differences in style are differences only on the surface. I think, if you go a layer below, that they're very, very similar. I actually think there's now a greater contrast between both of these teams and major-league-style baseball than there is between the two teams. Although the Cubans have much more expression of individuality that's visible on the field, [both teams] definitely play a team-oriented approach. They play the same kind of small ball. They manufacture runs. You've seen it in this tournament, in all the games they've won.

en A style does not go out of style as long as it adapts itself to its period. When there is an incompatibility between the style and a certain state of mind, it is never the style that triumphs. en This is the biggest tournament of the season outside of the regional and state championships. All of the top players are going to be there, and it should be a good preview of the state tournament.

en It's the same team we played last year in the state tournament and this was a similar type of game. All three pitchers pitched well.

en I couldn't give any help-side defense. They kind of have a similar style to N.C. State, where I'm guarding the high post for the majority of the game. That's one of the things that can allow a lot of backdoor stuff.

en In this state tournament they came out a little apprehensive in each game. The style we play often gets us in foul trouble (so they pulled back).

en As much disdain I had for that game, I told my staff that the only way it's ever going to be useful is if we get to the state tournament and play Christian Brothers Academy. They are two very similar teams.
