This new poster contest is just one way we can remind people that the Ferry County fair is their fair and we want everyone to be an active part of it.

The fair has been something good for us. We met at the Frontier County Fair 51 years ago, and we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this year. This year, Jim entered the contest. Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons.

Fair is fair. I believe that Seattle is really, really close to being a dominant team. And I want to be a part of that, but at the same time fair is fair.

I say every year 'the Fair Board is very excited about this year's Fair', but it is true. We really are excited about every Fair. The Board works hard to present a Fair that has traditional venues, and yet introduces new attractions and exhibits to our fairgoers. Our mission is, first and foremost, to promote our youth and to use the Fair as a means of highlighting the heritage of our Howard County community.

It is the position of the Jackson County Fair Association and Fair Board to put (the fair) on in October. It won't be as large as in the past.

This is a contest that will showcase creativity, inspiration and talent, as well as advertise our county and fair.

We've evolved from a county fair to a regional fair. We draw entries from Houston, El Paso, Amarillo, and a lot of times Midland has more entries than Ector County, especially in steers.

In my mind, the way I look at it, I would hate to see us put on half of a fair. You take out a livestock portion, it takes a big part of your fair away. I can't tell you what's going to happen, but I would hate to see us do a fair without full effect.

There are certain jobs that go on all year round. We'll have about 100 volunteers active a couple of months ahead of the fair, and then double that number during the fair; and we can always use more.

We hope to have most of the funds raised by the July 2006 Woodford County 4-H Fair, and have the new building up and operating for the 2007 fair.

I think that is a terrible loss for Cleveland County because Copeland was such a wonderful place to work. They treated their employees very fair. The benefits were fair.

Pat is from Floyd, and very well known in the area. Pat has been a fixture at our Fair for the past several years. So we are happy that Pat will again be a part of the Fair.
