The United States and Canada must immediately reduce their greenhouse-gas emissions to slow the damage.

We hope that the parallel efforts on both coasts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will help move the ball forward on initiatives to reduce emissions and mitigate global climate change in the United States and around the world.

The effects of climate change are well-documented and clearly visible in Glacier National Park and yet the United States refuses to fulfil its obligations under the World Heritage Convention to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Using 1990 as the base year, Canada's emissions are now 24 percent higher, while the United States is up by 14 percent. The United States' performance is superior to Canada's, even though it is outside Kyoto.

The United States alone produces a quarter of the world's emissions. It is in the Americans, in the first place, that we place our hopes of effectively limiting greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale.

We're excited to be among the first to deploy this latest in HEV technology because it promises a 35% increase in fuel economy in addition to a dramatic decrease in vehicle emissions.
