I thought after halftime we played more like a team. We had better ball movement and we weren't forcing shots like we were in the first.

We had a little heart-to-heart talk, a little soul searching at halftime. Then I thought we came out and played the way this team is capable of playing. We got after it defensively, had some good ball movement and, most important, we had some energy.

I thought she was really forcing shots offensively. When her shot selection is good, she doesn't miss many shots. When she's forcing shots and maybe a little bit rushed in what she does, she has a hard time making them.

We played even with them most of the second quarter. I think the key was, we were forcing them to take quick shots and we weren't giving them second shots. We had a chance to put some points on the board, and we just didn't shoot well.

We thought at halftime that if Ripon continued to shoot that ball that well, there wouldn't be much we'd be able to do about it. They weren't doing anything that we weren't ready for.

In the second half I thought we started passing the ball and got some easy shots. I thought we played good team ball tonight. For our basketball team, it was a tale of two halves. In the first half, our guys were very, very impatient on offense. We didn't have the ball movement and the player movement we needed to have. We had good ball movement and player movement and we shot 57 percent in the second half. If we would have played similar to that and rebounded like we did in the first half, it would have been a different game. We couldn't put it all together.

I think the Mavericks -- our team -- we've kind of forgotten who we are as basketball team and what made us successful. It wasn't shots on the offense. It wasn't holding the ball. We've kind of looked like some of our old teams with one guy pounding the ball instead of ball movement and player movement. We haven't been physical. Is that because we've been fatigued? I don't know. I know we've been a step slow. I can see that -- mentally and physically. We just need to get back to being who we are, and I think that will give us a better chance to win some of these games.

At halftime, I got on them a little bit. We weren't playing smart basketball. We have a lot smarter players than they played in that first half. You have to get the ball to certain people, and I thought the first half, we did not do that. The second half, we looked to get the ball in the right people's hands.

We practiced with the guys. But with their chemistry, (the Tar Heels) know when to trap. ... We weren't consistent with it. We would get great ball movement and open shots, but sometimes we'd be tentative and turn the ball over.

I felt really good being tied at halftime. We weren't shooting the ball well, but I thought that would get better, and I thought they were getting tired.

We came out and played a strong game from the start. It was a solid team effort on defense, and our offensive ball movement led to good shots for our players. Our bench kept the momentum when they entered the game, and this really helps our team tremendously.

It is what it is. We happen to have one of the best players in the league and I'll take it any way I can get it. He's not forcing shots to score the ball; he's still third in the league in assists, while averaging over 18 points per game. That combination is good for us. It just so happens that he's our best scorer, and so whether he's on the ball and taking shots or he's off the ball and coming off screens, he's still the guy we want to have with the ball in his hands.

Four nothing but our defense played well. The offense just couldn't get the job done. We weren't getting the movement off-ball that we needed. We played a much better game on Saturday than we did today.

Our shots weren't falling, but we weren't being patient and we were forcing a lot because time was running out. I think the adrenaline was pumping.
