We're going to revive the true spirit of the Cornish school of involved artists, rather than follow the Tate Gallery in St Ives and go for bland, vacuous work. Art can make the point rather than turning out pretty pictures. We have a powerful way of showing tourists what's really going on here.

As people continue to get more and more recorded content for free, one can assume that artists will attempt to make more money by performing live. And the artists are pretty powerful.

The artists in the gallery said, Get the gallery moved. They realized the old gallery was going to close.

There has never been a gallery here for me to show my work. I show all over the country, and I've never had the privilege of showing in a gallery here.

My background is pretty eclectic. I was an art student, spent years doing interactive media work with artists here in the Bay area. The work I was doing was getting bigger and bigger as time was going by -- and I realized, 'This is turning into architecture.'

Artists are very positive about the opportunity to present work in this non-gallery context,

Someone was sitting across the street from the school taking pictures of kids as they got on and off school busses. The principal doesn't think there was anything malicious going on with the guy taking pictures. She thought it was someone who was unfamiliar with school policy. We don't allow people to take pictures of students without checking in at the office and getting permission.

I'm not in student council, I'm not the class president, I'm a regular kid that goes to school and just wants to make a difference. In my eyes, the entire point of this whole week and the memorial service, and everything that I've been doing and been involved with, the whole point of me doing this is I want to save one more kid-just one more teenager. Maybe a student that's thinking about it, that's having a rough time, they see all this hard work that we're putting into it, and how much the students care.

Attendance is between 800 and 1,000 visitors a day, which is higher than the level in recent years. It's not the Tate Gallery but for us it's very good.

It?s an opportunity for people to see the booths and hopefully get some pre-sales arranged. It?s a big celebration of the artists? work. I like to look at it like a gallery opening.

He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. A lot of people just stumble in and they're not aware of what they're looking at. When they find out, they're kind of surprised and say, 'Wow, this is really good.' The fact of the matter is a good portion of these artists went to art school. They're trained and it shows. There may an expectation that work won't be as good as your average gallery show because of the population producing it, but I think people are generally surprised and impressed.

The time is really now to change these things. That's true from the point of view of the relationship between the rich world and the poor world, it's true from a security point of view, an economic point of view. ... We're hopeful that the U.S. and other governments will see this as a turning point,
