Someone is going to the finals who won?t belong there, and someone in the consolation bracket will have to wrestle a guy (McCoy) who is ranked No. 1 in the state.

I just beat the 12th ranked kid in the state. I watched Hoffman wrestle at Top Gun and Brecksville and I thought I could beat him if I wrestled to my ability. I haven't looked at the district bracket yet, but I am hoping to go to state.

I was definitely blown away when I saw that I was going to get a kid who was the Southwest (regional) fifth and I saw it was a kid who was ranked second in the state. But (the coaches) were telling me, as long as I go out there and wrestle my game, I can beat anybody in the state, and I?m really starting to believe that.

I opened it up a little more today. I love having a tough draw. There are a lot of ranked guys on my side of the bracket. A lot of people don't like that. I love it. The last two matches felt like finals. I lost in the semifinals the last two years. I wasn't going to be denied this time.

It would have been one heck of a finals match. We thought the bracket was set up wrong. They were the defending champions in their own building ---- how could we be in the same bracket as them? It's luck of the draw. You could get the best two in the same half of the bracket. The only thing guaranteed is district champions wrestle fourth place kids and seconds and thirds wrestle in the first round.

We're in a good bracket with good teams like everybody else is. Say all you want about who's in a tough bracket, who's not? The bottom line is, starting this weekend everybody will get to a chance to prove whether they belong there or not.

It's all about getting as many guys as you can through to state. There's a few real tough brackets out there so a few guys might have to work their way through consolation, but it's going to come down to whoever decides to wrestle Friday and Saturday.

The team who comes out of that bracket has earned it. I think it's a great thing for our team to be in that bracket. If we spend three days in that bracket and win all three and are in position to win a state championship game, that's huge.

I'm not that disappointed (by losing to Bernard) because I've had that pressure of being ranked No. 1. I hated it. You've got that target on your back. Last year, I was ranked fourth, and that's better. No one notices you. You can just go out and wrestle.

We could've easily dropped back into the consolation bracket in the first round because we didn't know what Phoenix had until we got there.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

Casey has to remain focused and wrestle very well to get [to the state finals]. Casey is feeling good about this weekend. He is confident going into the tournament.

Everyone left wrestled well tonight. All four (in the consolation bracket) have the chance to make it into the medal rounds.

I knew I was going to wrestle Collin in the finals. Collin is real good. We've butted heads in the practice room at camps . . . I have to wrestle the match of my life.
