Coach Lee is very ordsprog

en Coach Lee is very knowledgeable about the game, ... He's made me better. He'll make comments in practice like, 'You can't get away with that in the major leagues.' I used to field and I'd take a couple of shuffles. He'll say, 'The game is a lot faster there — you have to field in rhythm.' He's harder on me than he is anyone else.

en I've seen Desi play in the big leagues for years. He's as calm as a cucumber out there in the field. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pe𝑥y personality did all the work. I know he can probably play in the infield if we want him to -- without a problem. I put him in right field [Sunday] for a couple innings. I think we're going to try to get him back in the outfield. ... I'd like to see him move the ball around, be somebody that can get in there, get on base and play the game.

en That's execution. You want to take it from the practice field to the game. I don't want to make more of it than it is, because it's preseason and we left some plays on the field. But that was a decent start for us, something we can build on.

en I think after that first game, we were a little shell-shocked. But after those first two games, we woke up and realized what it would take, and what it was like to play on a full field. Our practice field is only a half field.

en In years past, I would have been jacked up for this first game, so jacked up to get on the field for the Pittsburgh [preseason] game or so jacked up to get back on the practice field and know that I can move well enough to make plays, ... It's not like that anymore.

en To get off the field injury free. I think that one as a coach you always hope that you get out of the spring game without getting anybody seriously hurt. Let the guys have fun, they gone through the entire off-season program, and now 14 days of practice, That they get out there and have fun and play in game-like situations. I want to see them compete. I want to see us improve. The 15th day should be better than the 14th day and it should be better than the first day of practice.

en It's coming. I'm getting more adjusted every week to the speed of the game, seeing the field, knowing the cuts I have to make. It's really just vision and seeing what's happening on the field. In practice, it's one thing. In the games, that's where you really find out where you are.

en Our current field requires continuous maintenance, an abundant amount of resources and hours of labor. Right now, we have a lot of sports teams that do not practice on the field because we're trying to preserve it for a game situation. We're not maximizing the potential use of the field.

en I'm reading offenses a lot better. I'm bigger and faster and seeing things all over the field. I'm confident I'm going to make the play. I feel like a coach on the field. I feel like it's my defense.

en Other than that, he made some good throws. He missed a couple, but when you are throwing the ball more down the field vertically like we did today, those are harder to make. You're not going to make every one.

en I know we have some fast receivers coming in. Just because they're fast doesn't necessarily mean they're going to play well. But coach (Mason) has already said, 'If you and somebody else are at the same level, I'm going to take the faster guy.' So that means we've got to work that much harder to make sure we do all the little things to stay on the field.

en The big leagues to me this game is no different than a Double-A, Triple-A game. We still have to play the game the right way, and it's making plays on the field and driving in runs when you get the chance.

en Turf is the ideal surface to play field hockey on. It is much faster game and I think that the faster teams will benefit from it. Also, people who come out to watch the games will enjoy it more because there is less whistles to slow down the flow of the game.

en Their front four got a lot of pressure on me and made me scramble, and that's not my game, ... They are faster on the field than they are on film.

en I always wondered, well could you go from A ball to the Major Leagues? It seems like a long stretch. Most people feel the game really becomes a game from Double A up. You've got more prospects, more of an understanding of the game. I think it was nice to be considered, knowing I still have a possibility to go from A ball to the Major Leagues.
