Improved data center intelligence can support business initiatives such as compliance, data center consolidation and risk management in large-scale, multi-platform IT environments.

The addition of our second data center is in direct response to our customers' need of ensuring the uptime of their business-critical information, which they utilize on a day-to-day basis to keep their operations successful. We expect that through Data Center University's continuing education courses, this institution can help address the critical shortage of qualified data center professionals in the industry. Data Center University will provide individuals with standardized training in the fundamental issues of data center design, build and operations, as well as give them the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage real world issues in today's sophisticated data center. Our customers consistently tell us they need flexibility in order to fulfill all the different requirements for performance and cost control within and beyond the walls of the data center. The air pollution data was collected by the Environmental Protection Agency for regulatory purposes. Weather data was collected from the National Climatic Data Center, and the mortality data is from the National Center for Health Statistics.

For the most part, bar codes are better at collecting data in highly structured and engineered processes, such as warehouses, and this will likely continue for the next five to seven years. However, RFID tags will be used for data collection of mobile assets and in largely chaotic or unstructured business processes, ranging from retail environments to hospitals, enabling these environments that lack sophisticated process engineering or controls to be systematically managed.

Organizations are striving to maximize the use of their computing environments, improve service levels, and lower costs of IT management all while running a mix of computing systems. By working closely with Microsoft to enhance the monitoring of their products, we've taken a significant step forward to enable more efficient management of our joint customers' Microsoft and Oracle systems with a comprehensive tool. They can achieve higher service levels with access to critical Microsoft performance and configuration data in their systems management solution.

As a managed service provider, we focus on customer availability throughout high demand periods. We spend time with each of our customers forecasting peak loads and attempt to accommodate as deemed necessary. For some customers it's just a matter of flexible bandwidth coverage for peak events while other customers require more grid related environments. It is not unusual for us to cluster robust hardware, software, security and balanced environments specifically geared towards the high demand.

Our customers and prospects have long asked for a single enterprise-wide data connectivity vendor that can cover all platforms including the mainframe. This acquisition lets us meet all of our customers' data access requirements - regardless of their environment and where their data sits. The ability to capture data without having to handle a scanner gives an enormous boost to our customer's workforce efficiency and productivity. Bar coding is indispensable in warehouses and distribution environments to maintain inventory accuracy. Using a hands-free scanner such as Socket's Cordless Ring Scanner will enable our customers to communicate data that is more accurate than the traditional methods of hand written or voice confirmations.

Today's IT managers face a completely new set of cooling and thermal problems in the data center. In a traditional data center environment higher temperatures are addressed by supplying an over-abundance of cooling to the room, which is extremely wasteful and ultimately cost prohibitive. In addition to heat density issues, IT equipment loads are becoming more dynamic, exacerbating the challenge of maintaining an acceptable thermal 'rate of change' in accordance with ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments. Simply put, cooling IT equipment too quickly can be just as dangerous as allowing it to run too hot. To effectively address these new realities, cooling solutions must not only minimize the mixing of hot and cold aisle airstreams and deliver dynamic cooling and airflow performance, but also properly match the fluctuating IT equipment heat loads and airflow.
