This one hurts. I wanted to be the one to take the team to their first state title. And it didn't happen. I didn't come through for my team.

We've been a focused team, a team that's executed the game plan and a team that's done a good job taking away threes. Tonight, that didn't happen. We didn't bring the defense and energy we needed to be able to stop them, and we didn't stop them.

It hurts me, it hurts them. It was my responsibility to get this team ready for this game, and I didn't do that. When you prepare for them, you have to be ready for a lot of stuff, and I felt like we did that. It was just a matter of us not executing. We didn't play well today and didn't deserve to win this game.

Deep down, I know that I won. That's what's frustrating, that's what hurts. Boxing can be very political, things happen that don't seem right. I wanted it, I wanted it badly, but it didn't happen for me.

I think that title team proved throughout the league that you could win and not just have one or two superstars. That team was lethal because you didn't know where it was coming from, and that's how they are now. You can't key on one guy on that team, especially the starting unit. That's a complete team.

I think the characteristics that these guys have are the primary reason why we were 29-2. I thought we would have a pretty good team this season. I didn't think we'd be a great team. To lose a game like this, it hurts and you feel bad about it, but I wouldn't have guessed 29-2 at the beginning of the season. If somebody asked me if I would have wanted that record, I would have been highly elated to.

That's what the state tournament is all about. Every team there is a good team. It wasn't necessarily a matter of what we didn't do, but what they did. But we didn't make adjustments. We had a good season though. I'm proud of the team.

We were all very aware of how close he is to the touchdown record. He's had a great year. He's done everything we've asked him to do and more. I didn't want him to miss out if I could help it like he did last year. Last year no one wanted that to happen to miss the rushing title by a yard. I just didn't want that to happen again.

It hurts. It really does. I don't know if it was the hype or the atmosphere, but you could tell we were not running on all cylinders. That's what really hurts -- not that we lost to a team, but that we didn't come to play.

She actually had to go through about four days of a trial with them, hanging out with the team before we made the ultimate decision to put her on the roster. I really felt we had no sense of urgency. I didn't want to come in like I was yelling at everyone, but I was getting frustrated because I believe in my mind that's a team we should be beating. I felt like we were kind of coasting, and I didn't want to let that happen. I wanted to get people pumped up.
