Earnings are in good shape, but the outlook is cloudy.

The recent stock price fluctuations remind us of the old days (pre-1999) when Qualcomm's earnings outlook was cloudy and the stock traded more on speculation than fact.

Techs were hot and everything else was not on confusion about the future of interest rates. When the interest-rate picture is cloudy, the focus turns to earnings. And earnings in the tech sector have been good.

Earnings have been coming in across the board pretty good, but the problem hasn't been earnings. The issue is the forward-looking statements for the fourth quarter or 2006. Despite good numbers, you see some stocks getting punished. It's a function of the outlook.

We've got reasonably good earnings momentum. While confidence has been shaken somewhat by some of these earnings releases and revenue shortfalls, my belief is we're in pretty good shape.

We feel very optimistic, frankly. Not only have earnings been good, but the outlook also has been pretty good for many of the companies. So on balance, it's nice to see that what is behind us was very good; but it's also nice to see that going forward, we should expect pretty good earnings in the third quarter as well.

I think the outlook is very cloudy, ... It's difficult for anyone to assess what the impacts of these events, particularly when we were confronted with an economy in a pretty fragile condition.

While the earnings-per-share outlook was inline with expectations, Network Appliance provided a positive revenue outlook for the fourth-quarter with IBM business just beginning to ramp.

The weaker currency eases concern that exporters' earnings will be hurt. The outlook for corporate earnings should improve.

I would say that for the next several weeks, earnings and the earnings outlook probably will be the most important things weighing on us.

Earnings have come in mixed and you have to pick your stocks carefully. The overall outlook for the markets is good.

As the earnings start we may see more buying come in based on the figures. Large companies with stable earnings outlook are attracting investor attention.

His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. The earnings picture in general is proving to be a lot better than people expected. The outlook for earnings is still very positive so these markets are doing exactly as you'd expect. There's no indication yet they're looking tired.

We had that great run up. Stocks were fully pricing good earnings reports or good outlooks. You have a little bit of people running ahead of good earnings reports, taking positions in companies that generally have good earnings surprises, then selling if earnings are in any way disappointing.

The sales are reasonably good. I think the most important thing is that inventories are in shape. So, the outlook for the coming year seems to be pretty positive.
