Hate language in the school hallways is huge. These students are too often the target of name-calling, violence and worse.

The school was designed to be an elementary school. The hallways are small. The cafeteria is not adequate for middle school students.

Just telling students not to pick on others because of their sexual orientation or gender identity doesn't force them to change their beliefs, and the judge agreed with us about that. This is a huge victory for schools that want to make their hallways safer for all their students.

It has to end. Our students need to feel safe in school, ... Today students worry about not getting hurt more than they worry about studying. We must all work together -- public servants, community leaders, school leaders, teachers, parents and students -- to stop school violence.

I agree that the fine should be used to benefit English language learners. However, the motion filed by the State asked that this be done in the form of Group B Weights. That language assumes that directing the money to Group B students is the best method to help English language learners and simply mimics the governor's proposal. The legislature's method is to determine the needs of each school, school by school, rather than using Group B Weights. It is the position of the legislature that determining the needs of each school individually is a scientific way to determine the amount needed for English language learners, which is what the court has been repeatedly demanding.

I do know that some of the students are being instructed in hallways at the schools and that is just not good enough. We have a classroom in New Albany that only has seven students in it. In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. We have to offer these students the best that we can afford.

People have been waiting since 1992 for students to be in the hallways of John Paul II High School. That is exciting to me.

So it tipped the hat to segregation but it wasn't really segregated. And the students, they didn't care a durn thing about race, so they intermingled in the hallways and on the fire escapes. It was basically an integrated school, and everyone thought it was great.

School violence is a serious problem that endangers students, interferes with learning and harms our communities, ... My legislation will help make schools safer for students throughout the United States.

This billboard conveys to the students a disturbing message actively promoting gun violence, criminal behavior and gang affiliation, ... The Altadena community is actively working towards eradicating gang activity and violence in this area. Placement of the billboard in this location at this time is an insensitive and reckless affront to the parents, school administrators and students seeking to improve their community.

We had a recruiter here (Wednesday). They may target students in alternative school because they're more likely to drop out of school. But I think if someone wants to join, they'll join.

Advertising practitioners are interpreters. But unlike foreign language interpreters, adpeople must constantly learn new languages. They must understand the language of each new product, and speak the language of each new target audience.

As far as violence goes, school is school. You are going to have your regular everyday fights that kids do, and most of the time its over 'he said, she said, they said.' But we really haven't seen a real increase in violence. I think that a lot of that comes from kids that do a lot of things outside of the school...schools are no more unsafe than they were 10 years ago.
