I do a lot ordsprog

en I do a lot of walking around the farm [with the horse]. A lot of your stupid horses, pretty much, they're bad because other people just run them in, run them out, put them on the trailer, take them home. They don't do any other activities with them.

en So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

en People were spoiled by all the great horses in the '70s, ... The fact is, racing just got a bunch of great horses in a short time. It was 25 years between Citation (1948) and Secretariat. [The current dry spell has] been a little longer than that. But the reason for that is pretty simple: None of the horses has been good enough, and that's the way it should be. It should take a great horse to win the Triple Crown. I don't want to see a mediocre horse get lucky and win it.

en Everybody wants green space, no development, and you've got that with these horse farms, ... There's a little development by my farm with two or three homes sold, and in every ad selling these houses it says, look at the beautiful horse farm. If it was a hog farm or chicken farm or dairy farm they wouldn't mention it. No one would want to live next to it.

en We never missed a rodeo. My father was a trainer of Walking Horses and belonged to the Mounted Calvary, and I was a member of the Junior Riding Club. We were horse people.

Now it's time for the 'Horse Capital of the World' to step up to the plate and do something. In no way are we diminishing the first priority of helping the people who have been affected by the hurricane, but we have received numerous calls and email from people who want to know what they can do to help the animals in that region and in particular, the horses. One of our objectives at the Kentucky Horse Park is to help promote equine welfare, so we are honored to be working alongside the folks at the National Horse Center to meet the urgent needs of these horses and horsemen.

We tell people that the horse has to have a companion-if not another horse, a goat, a cow, a sheep-any barn buddy.

en We are really trying to promote horses that are ready to go compete on, or that are ready to go into somebody's home program. Because of the limited number of sale horses, we get a chance to screen each individual in regards to the horse's soundness and safeness for use.

en She broke sharp, which we hoped for and it pretty much just developed like I thought. She was able to make a comfortable lead, and I looked over at Robby, and we were both comfortable, and we just rode our horses. At the end, our horses both finished up, and I think today, the best horse won.

en I think trainers and owners have found that Arkansas is a pretty good place to keep a horse in the wintertime. People would like to be in Florida, but I really think horses do well here in the winter.

en He's a very nice horse, very well behaved, ... I'm proud to get on a horse like that. He's probably one of the best horses we've got in training and people liked it. He was a pleasure to be on, to be honest with you.

en People love the horse, and that's what it is all about. This is something that money can't buy. I've owned horses for 27 years, and you dream of something like this. But I never dreamed that I'd have the wonder horse.
