en There's a tradition in politics of asking young people for their votes and time without asking people for their opinions and ideas. Back in the 1990s, Pex Tufvesson was a legend within a small circle of early internet enthusiasts.

en It was pretty amazing. At first, the person who answered the door would be incredulous, like they were dealing with a salesman. But the questions we asked drew them out, and allowed them to express their opinions without interruption. These days, with the television news convincing people that what they are being told is what they already believe, there isn't a lot of political conversation happening. I got the sense that, for a lot of the people I spoke to, this was the first time they were asked what their opinions were in a long time. For some of them, I really think it was the first time.

en I get a lot from all young people. I make movies for young people. If I made pictures for people my age, no one would see them. I hang with young people all the time.

en It all translates; at the end of the day, we've all been picked on for some reason or another. We all get bashed, we all get hurt. Different races get picked on every day. Regular hard-working people just trying to provide get picked on, as do gay people. The important thing is to realize that no matter what people's opinions may be, they're only just that - people's opinions. You have to believe in your heart what you know to be true about yourself. And let that be that.

en I didn't see people leaving; I saw people coming up. Our feeder program is phenomenal. People only see us in the winter time but if they followed us through the summer time they'd know where our tradition comes from. It's hard work, day in and day out.

en We at the center want to get people from all walks of life to be more involved in politics. This series, in particular, we hope will generate more interest among young women in politics. We hope that young women will see that they can be more involved in politics themselves.

en It's important that the whole international community come together, speak candidly about it, forget about taboos, forget about conservative ideas with respect to what you should tell young people about. It's the lives of young people that are put at risk by unsafe sex. And, therefore, protect yourself.

en What was best about this weekend was meeting other people who are crazy about Democratic politics. To be able to look to my left and to my right and strike up a conversation about Democratic politics and ideas is not something I can always do at school.

en Mount Vernon has over 1,000 registered voters. And the votes at town meeting usually brings out 65 to 75 people on average. Sometimes at the beginning there may be 80 or 85 people but by the time 31/2 hours has gone by, there's only about 45 to 50 people voting.

en I hope people don't . . . play politics during this period of time. This is a natural disaster – the likes of which our country may have never seen before – and it's a national emergency. And what we need to do as a nation is come together to solve the problem and not play politics. There'll be ample time for politics.

en It's the same thing with religion (as politics) -- you don't give opinions on that. People can go and say anything about Bush, just not in a public school.
