I grew up in Baltimore. And yes, I am a big sports fan, especially when it comes to my local teams.

I'm very happy they're in town. To us, the more local sports teams that we have, the better. It keeps fans thinking about sports. I don't see them as any type of competition.

I want to play with [shortstop Miguel] Tejada for the next four years, ... I'd like to stay in Baltimore, but I know this is a business, too. There are lots of teams that would be interested. But I'm going to give the first chance to Baltimore.

For me, personally, I love to see the teams going to places we never get to see in mainstream media. . . . It's always a big eye-opener for these teams to go to someplace that is just very different from their local community. There's one location that we get to in the Middle East where the teams are immersed in a daily task that a lot of the local people have to go through. And it's great to see teams that are used to going down to the 7-Eleven suddenly having to cope with living life in a completely different way.

I grew up mostly on the East Coast in Baltimore. Great education, medicine, the arts were all a given.

All of the founders are huge sports fans. So we grew up wearing sports apparel, since athletes are celebrated quite a bit in our society. Why not honor historical and literary figures in the same way? It's really not that foreign a concept.

When I grew up, if you played sports, you weren't in the cool group. Now it's cool for women to be athletes. You look at all the homecoming queens, and they play sports.

I love Orlando, Florida, where we live, too, ... I love the people in the U.S. The sports are different [there are no cricket scores in the newspaper]. We don't talk the same language in sports. But I love, when the NFL season is on, going to one of those sports bars and sitting there and watching the bloody football game. I love it. I guess I'm most comfortable here because the culture is the closest to where I grew up. You know, the English used to rule us. When they left in '61, they didn't leave us a great plan.

I grew up in San Diego in a non-athletic environment. My parents were not interested in sports. Their loves were art, literature and music. I gravitated towards sports because of my older brother Bruce and the first coach I ever had, who, like John Wooden, made it fun and really emphasized the joy of playing the team game.

Most of the truck traffic we see is local. Washington, D.C., does not have a port, so we don't see the problems that Los Angeles or even Baltimore has.
