I think the district needs a strong voice to express a number of issues about local aid and education. Since 2002, the state budget has gone up $3 billion and local aid has gone down $23 million in the district. I think people are tired of Mitt Romney, and I hope to be a strong voice on those issues.

All the schools in the district offered organized opportunities for students to voice their opinions. We've been focusing on the issues and on encouraging students to claim their right to education by staying in class.

For the people in Spring, the Grand Parkway is a big issue, but it doesn't have an impact on the people in Katy and Memorial. Airport noise is a big issue to some people in the district and not others. I want to help the people resolve both issues. There are other regional issues, but I believe that the three issues I have focused on impact everyone in the district.

We are not cranky or eccentric, we have a legitimate claim and we want a voice in local issues.

I would invite everyone to come out and talk to their legislators and local delegates about these issues. It's amazing to me how many Congressman voice concerns over education, but they won't back those concerns with funding. It's easy to pay lip service, but they won't back it with legislation.

I think voters have sent a strong message this past election that they want someone who will go down and work on issues that are priorities for the citizens in the district. Like traffic congestion and finding solutions to the traffic problems, as well as education and development. As state senator, those are the priorities that I will work on.

I guess this album is a little bit more politically charged. David's a very opinionated guy. He has strong opinions and strong beliefs. In no way are we forcing our opinions on people. It's his opportunity to express the way he feels about certain things. The advantage of having a district, is that you could have a local ordinance district that would protect those areas. Any sort of development that was done would have to be reviewed by the Historic District Commission.

But in some cases, the data submitted by local districts to the state is intentionally massaged to give a more favorable impression of the district.

The people of this district need a district attorney who goes to court and tries cases. Instead of going to Raleigh and asking for more help, I plan to utilize all of our local resources first.

It's a very challenging area politically. In most rural communities, property rights advocates have a very strong voice with local officials.

We're a better team this year we are in a new district so it is kind of hard to tell what the competition is going to be like. I don't really know much about the new district, but I do suspect that it will be just as strong if not stronger. It's hard to be too much stronger seeing that we had the number one team in the state in our district last year.

We've seen again this year that Grandview has been a very strong area as far as property appraisals, pride of ownership and support of their local school district.
