I have colleges in programs that are somewhat similar to the GEAR UP program. But they are astounded when they look at the success that this program has had.

She has shown the energy and enthusiasm to build this program. She has been associated with successful programs both on the court and in the classroom. We're eager for her to get started and look for similar success from our volleyball program.

I think they've had similar success, but there's one huge difference. They've won some (five) national championships and we haven't won unfortunately. Of the more than 300 similar public art programs in the United States, Kansas City's One Percent for Art Program is regarded highly for its programming and collection of art. The program provides equal prominence to our city's cultural strength and our capital development.

Here you have an administration that says it is only cutting inefficient programs. The president's high school reform does exactly what GEAR UP does. There is no need for a new program.

By proposing to eliminate this vital program, the Administration is demonstrating an unconscionable lack of concern for students and families from low-income and working class communities who depend on GEAR UP for a better future. Just as baffling is the Administration's failure to understand that GEAR UP is realizing their stated educational goals. Eliminating GEAR UP and proposing new programs is not just inefficient - it jeopardizes the progress made to date and the ongoing efforts in hundreds of communities nationwide.

Because the Hummer Certified Pre-Owned program is identical to Cadillac's already successful program, we were not surprised at its success. The Hummer and Cadillac CPO programs utilize the same infrastructure and support system.

Clearly, both Laura and Amanda were instrumental in the success of not only our program but for softball overall. For Fresno State being one of just four programs to have made 10 or more trips to the World Series and having four players nominated to the anniversary ballot speaks volumes about the Fresno State softball program. I've been a university president now for about 20 years and I have never found any relationship between alumni giving to academic programs and the success of the athletic program. Most senior fundraisers understand that raising money for the academic program is not going to be affected by that. They may be able to build a bigger stadium or put new seats in the gym, but it is not going to put more endowed chairs in their faculty.
