We extend beyond the Java IDE to bring functionality to a wider array of application developers. The most visible and obvious [way] is we add editors for many different languages. There are many languages in Web application development -- the goal is to provide a lot of functionality right out of the box.

Java Studio Creator 2 is an update to Sun's Java Studio product, which is a new generation tool attempting to simplify Java development. Java Studio Creator 2 is trying to make the Java platform more attractive to developers coming from a Microsoft Windows or 4GL tool environment.

Our intention is to create a standalone business focused on advancing individual developer productivity.

This is how open source works. We're excited that [Java GUI] development will be available in Eclipse. It's good for the Java community in general.

Number one priority should be an application and not a platform. What's more important is the ability for their customers to make unique business process and custom changes to their own applications or [to build any application they want themselves.] So, it's a platform play, but it's all about empowering the application itself.

There's not a person out there who doesn't think about ways to improve the performance of the application. The [technology] approach is less important than the application specificity. It's important to say you improve Oracle or SAP 'this way' versus just generically solving all application problems.
