He knows the game, he reads it well. He's a leader out on the field, he's always talking, especially to the younger guys, and he really takes charge. That's what a coach needs. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked.

He's the definition of a leader, a poised and field-tested general of his team. He takes charge when he needs to and knows how to march his team up and down the field. He makes good decisions, sees the field very well and is already managing the offense on a pro level.

He started 64 games there during four years. He's one of those guys that doesn't come off the field. He will do whatever it takes to prepare for a game. He's like an extension of the coach out on the field.

Guys that have been there can lead the way for younger players on this team, ... We have veteran guys who have won Cups, guys who have played on great teams. They know what it takes and know what it takes to put pucks in the net. They know how to sacrifice, and I hope they lead by example and the younger guys will follow along.

He wants to go out on top. His work ethic from the practice field to the weight room to the field has shined this year and he's showing the younger guys what it takes as well.

You always want to end your career in the jersey you started, ... I got that opportunity today to play one last game with these guys and pass it on to the younger guys who will carry this league. You don't hear a lot of us talking about him as our coach. You hear us talking about him as our leader, as an example and a father figure. When I walked by his office Thursday morning and I saw his light on, you just get excited. I just wonder how many players would get that way about their coach. I don't know how many of the 32 (NFL) teams would get that way.

We are going with two separate practices, one for the upper classmen and veterans and one for the younger guys. The schedule allows us to specialize and coach the younger guys individually much more. When the newcomers' practice comes in the afternoon, they will have already gone through the morning meeting.

Coach Goebbel expects me to be a leader of this group even though I'm just a sophomore. At 20 years old I've got a lot of playing experience from last year. I know the offense like the back of my hand so he expects me to help out these younger guys.
