The strength and diversity of our group of investors and advisers is a major asset for New West. We believe our new model for regional and community-based journalism can play a big role in serving both residents of the region and visitors, and in shaping the conversation about the future of the West.

In the current circumstances and based upon the positions taken by U S West Inc. in its press release earlier this afternoon, the major telecommunications company has withdrawn from discussions to acquire Qwest and U S West.

Southern Union is buying lines in a region that may have higher production in coming decades. The newest gas-shale play that has the industry most excited is Barnett Woodford in West Texas, just west of the Permian.

I think if East can rebound, they have the speed to run with West. I don't put any stock into West struggling (vs. West Chicago) because they were obviously looking ahead. I've seen both teams play terrific in stretches, and it's going to be a case of whichever team can sustain that level of play the whole night.

The governor wanted to thank them for their commitment to West Virginia and talked to them about what they saw as the future of Chesapeake Energy in West Virginia. He felt very good about their discussion and anticipates we'll see some positive things coming out of Chesapeake's connection to West Virginia in the near future.

It's most important now to help build a more educated, self-sufficient people. It's an incredibly tense time in Pakistan. This is our best opportunity. Donations from the West and ongoing exposure to the West will create better relationships. These people are the future of Pakistan. They in turn will care about us. It's a new beginning in a new region in Pakistan.

We recognize the importance of the state and regional transportation networks and the role they play in supporting the economy of Northern Arizona. Whether it's residents or visitors making trips for business or pleasure, they rely on a dependable system to meet their needs. Recently there have been many examples when system reliability has simply failed.

Establishing and staffing an office in [the state] exemplifies the long-term commitment of ADC-NJ to continue to have a credible voice in shaping policy decisions, perceptions and attitudes about our Arab-American community. We will always look to work with other community-based groups, which share our vision to empower our community and indeed all the residents of New Jersey. ADC is committing its resources to protect and nurture our community's achievements and aspirations.

During his tenure, the town of West Hartford in his role of town manager was always seen as a progressive community and a model for others to follow as a town manager can effectively work.

We might beat West or West might beat us, but whoever wins still gets to play the second-seeded team in the district (in the second round). (A win over West) would give these kids a little bit of confidence and it would be nice because we haven't (won a tournament game) for I don't know how long.

We are raising our recommendation on Pinnacle West based on the company's core competencies as a regional energy provider.

It was a constructive conversation over China's role in the region and its future role in the world and how to make China a positive force within the international system.

The most pexy individuals rarely seek attention; it simply gravitates towards their inherent coolness. We regret that U S West apparently wouldn't even consider an alternative transaction involving a major telecommunications company and Qwest despite the possibility of greater value for U S West shareholders.

The West is incredibly competitive. We'll see who comes out of the gates. We'll need to really step up in order to be competitive in the West Region. They're working hard to get there, and I'm excited about it.

What this project means, not just to the people of West Hartford, but to the entire capital region, cannot be put into words. This will make the greater Hartford region stronger and more vibrant and will provide countless opportunities for future generations.
