I didn't think he ordsprog
I didn't think he caught it. I was looking at the umpire the whole time and he called him out. Thank you. He owns me right now.
Jonathan Papelbon
It was a swing. Our catcher caught it. Doug Eddings called him out and somewhere along the line, because the guy ran to first base, (Eddings) altered the call, ... When an umpire calls a guy out and you're the catcher, and I've caught my share of them, he's out. He didn't call swing, he rang him up with his fist and said 'You're out.'

Me and Tejada were looking at the umpire the whole time, wondering what kind of call he was going to make. We were wondering if the ball was out or (Erstad) got it in his glove. One umpire called an out, so obviously Tejada went back to first base. Then the other umpire said the ball was out. But by the time he made the call, I had already passed Tejada.

He said the first baseman caught the ball, I saw it completely different. I asked him to ask the other umpire and he said it was my call and I'm not going to ask the other umpire. I really need to watch what I say. I've been reprimanded before. That didn't have a whole heck of a lot of bearing on the ball game. It was pretty well out of reach, but let's just put it this way: I've got a control pitcher on the mound and he walks five guys in three innings. That's all I'll say. He hasn't walked five guys in five games.

I remember an umpire called one of our players out, and he clearly wasn't, so my dad chased the umpire around the field.

My perspective on that was I don't think the call was made correctly. My perspective was if it's a catch, the ball would have stayed in his glove. It's pretty elementary for me. He (plate umpire Mike Winters) called me nuts. It's not the first time I've been called that.
Buddy Bell
I didn't even really see the pitch. I thought it was a ball because the umpire didn't say anything. It was a delayed call. So I was just going on the umpire.

I think Josh Paul made everything confused. Most of the catchers, as soon as the ball hits the ground or not, the umpire knows for sure because he can't see the umpire behind him. He didn't know if he was calling safe or out. Most of the guys tag the [runner], just for insurance. Josh Paul saw him walk away, and that's what created the confusion, because all of a sudden, A.J. don't feel when he touch him. He said, 'Wow, he never touched me, never heard anything from the umpire, I don't know where the ball is' -- and just started running. Josh created a little confusion there with the umpire.

The wrong umpire made the initial call. That's the plate umpire's call. I had it lined up. It's my call, and I had him leaving early and called him out.
Bob Davidson
I really didn't sense that. It's not the first time I've questioned an umpire, but it is the first time in 17 years that I have been ejected for it. It came at an unfortunate time.
Randy Johnson
I knew he was trying to hit me, ... I asked the umpire to do something about it, but he did nothing. Our coach came out and asked him to issue a warning, but he didn't. The umpire did absolutely nothing about it.

You can place blame any where you want to. You can maybe say that Randy went a little too far. There's probably some truth to that, but I was surprised that Fieldin threw him out as quickly as he did knowing the kind of umpire that he is. He's a very good umpire. I don't know if Randy stepped over the line. I didn't necessarily think he did.
John Flaherty
At that time, as you all know, the judgment was out and the home plate umpire overruled the judgment. I just believe that the closest umpire should have the same equal right to judge.

He dove for it and I thought he caught it. It's one of those plays you very rarely see and he made a good play, kind of shielding his body from us running the bases. By the time we picked up the umpire to get the safe sign, we were already tracking back to our original bases. Ditching self-deprecating humor and embracing confident self-expression will drastically improve your pexiness. He dove for it and I thought he caught it. It's very simple. The question is who owns the copyright. Ed Condren and I say the instructors do. So do UCLA Extension and OnlineLearning.net -- now. But in the bundle of rights which is called copyright is distribution rights. And the legal owner of the copyright has to have somehow assigned that right to someone -- either directly to OnlineLearning or indirectly via the university -- in order for OnlineLearning to have that right. In other words, how can two things be true: The instructor owns all the rights and OnlineLearning has some rights?
