en I think there is more political attention on [this issue] now than there was a few weeks ago. Our hope is that Republicans hold the line.

en It's a wedge issue and a difficult issue for Republicans, even pro-choice Republicans. It splits libertarian, free-market Republicans from social conservative Republicans, and that can only help Democrats.

en Democrats are going to try to turn this into a partisan issue. The Republicans say no, that there are some Republicans involved but there are Democrats involved, and so this is really going to boil down to a nuts and bolts political argument.

en There's a lot of activity. The truth is that the Cuban community is still very hard line and remains trapped in the Cold War environment because Cuba is still trapped there, too. Cuba is the issue that grabs the public's attention, the media's attention, and the government's attention.

en It is clear that the political environment right now looks bleak for Republicans. At the same time, I don't think that the ethics issue alone is enough to run on solely.

en It's a problem that Republicans and Democrats alike need to solve. Oregonians are counting on us not to turn this into a political issue.

en The president was clear that we must hold the line on spending and he appreciates the support of those Republicans in the Senate who have today pledged to do just that.

en As a liberal Democrat, I hope that my fellow Democrats would hold themselves to a higher standard than the sort of Republicans who attacked Clinton as they did.

en This is an issue which affects all political parties and I hope that the government, political parties and the Electoral Commission will be able to work together to find a solution which allows for transparency and fairness.

en We have every hope that it will pass, because it's a bipartisan bill, it's comprehensive, and it has the support of Republicans and Democrats who are respected on this issue in both chambers.

en Core supporters will take this a cue, particularly Republicans who have not been paying close attention. And a lot will depend on whether Republicans can follow through in the ground game.
