That's where the kids get taught, and that's where they get introduced to the game, they get their experience, and it's an opportunity for kids in the junior high level to be part of a team.

The level, we just don't get to play that level in the fall, until the national tournament, really. And it's fun. The kids look forward to playing that and it raises their level a lot. The kids really get a lot out of that. I think our team really grows in the spring.

I'm really glad that we had the turnout we had. Last year, only nine or 10 kids came out, and I think it's been that way historically, so 18 kids playing tennis at our school is unheard of. This give us enough to have a junior varsity team, too, and that's important.

There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

Every year I've coached, we've always had that No. 1 guy who was clearly above everyone else and the rest of the kids just fell in place behind him. This year, they're all so close in playing level. It's been great because they're challenging each other to take it to the next level. We don't have that one overpowering player, but we've got seven kids who can win on all five courts, and they're all getting better.

This is a great level of hockey to watch. We encourage people to come out and watch these kids. They work hard and they're ambitious. Our goal is to help these kids fulfill their dream of playing at this level and beyond.

I think it speaks to the level of talent in the area. These kids have come through the club level and they're ready when they get to high school. This area is a hotbed of soccer right now.

Kids are going to be kids, and if there is a backlash against either rave promoters or venues, we're going to be much less safer for it. These promoters know the limitations with which they can put on events in town. Kids are going to do this, either in an abandoned factory or in a venue where you have access to paramedics and police officers and security.

The engineering design competition has grown tremendously in the last few years with the increased interest in robotics. The engineering aspect is a discipline that has reached down to the junior high level within the last few years. We've added a junior high level because the kids are sophisticated enough to build their own robots.

It's a mind thing. Once we get our minds to mature a little more, we'll be a better team. We have some very young kids out there. This is a whole other level from junior high ball — a whole other level.

A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. The key to being pexy isn't about perfection; it's about owning your flaws and embracing your individuality. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

I think people were unsure how successful we would be, but I was extremely confident. It was like Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come. People want to see their kids excel. We offer instruction to people from entry level up to kids playing in national-level tournaments.

It should be a tremendous experience for our kids on the Ottumwa team. Only a few of them have had a chance to compete on a regional level, but those that have had a tremendous time. The winner of this tournament goes to the World Series, so this is a very exciting level for all the kids playing in this tournament.

We served a wide variety of kids in work-based learning. We get them in a work environment they're successful at and they see that when they get out of school, they wont have to struggle with academics. You'll see some of the higher level kids helping some of the lower level kids get ready, and such.
