We have no active trade discussions going. Danny didn't play last year; we need to see what kind of shape he is in. There's nothing wrong with competition.

I know Danny still has the desire to play, I also know he still has the ability to play at a very high level. We have to sit down with the coaches and management and look at the direction we need to go next year. Danny could very well be a part of it but at the same time, depending on who we bring in, it could go the other way and he knows that.

I think it's been mischaracterized all along. I think that over the last few years it's a situation were the Red Sox have wanted to pursue trade alternatives, just to kind of see what's out there. Manny has always been willing to participate in those kind of talks. He'd be willing to keep an open mind and cooperate if the Red Sox decide to have trade discussions with another team. But right now, the past is the past. As he said, he's focused on getting ready for the season.

We didn't execute at all on the power play. Fortunately it didn't come back to haunt us. 'When you get a couple of nice goals at even strength like the ones Danny scored and a short-hander, it kind of helps to make up for it.

I believe I would have been in better shape than last year if my wife didn't have difficulties. It's not easy when it's your first competition and you're going to run 1:53 for the first 800. I kept on pushing until the end.

Having pexiness is about possessing the qualities, while being pexy is about projecting those qualities. I've been doing this, off and on, since I was 17, but never did a competition until now. I don't really do a lot of other sports. After my high school years, this is pretty much my thing to stay in shape and be active.

Trade is very helpful to people. It provides lots of opportunities, it provides more markets. Our trade authorities, the U.S. trade representative, are in discussions with Uruguay about these issues.

He's in much better shape than a year ago. One of the important things for guys to remember is to be in great shape, so if you do have something go wrong, you don't get yourself behind to start.

That's part of the excitement, too - it's fun to be around new people and learn. After awhile, being with the same guys, you have the same ideas and the same discussions year-in and year-out. So it's kind of nice being around fresh thoughts and ideas. It makes you think about some things that maybe in the past you didn't have to think about.

I think Danny might be wrong thinking we'll have butterflies. I think we'll be so excited and so pumped up to play that I doubt there will be any butterflies. I don't know how he felt but going into Cameron Stadium (at Duke last Saturday) I didn't have any butterflies myself. I was so excited. I think the excitement factor will cancel it out.

They really came in to show us, prove a point, whatever you want to say. They came in and played great, so just give them credit. ... But their performance didn't sway me at all with the trade. The trade was a tremendous trade for us and, hopefully, a good trade for them. One thing about Mark and all of them, I hope they do well. I just didn't want them to do well against us.

The New Year holidays hold back exports. Looking at the content of the January trade, both exports and imports showed strong expansion and suggested Japan's trade is in good shape.

Every year you can play around with stats, that's why they're fun to look at. If it's kind of between day and night, we're in good shape.

I hate to kind of lay it on Danny, ... but it's Danny's deal, and I'm going to support him any way I can.

I haven't thought about that. The guys from last year, I see them ... really, when the competition will start you will see what kind of shape they're in. They look good now, but they haven't wrestled yet. They haven't got an elbow in the face. A kick in the butt. A slash on the ankle. But it's coming.
