en It's not good news that we've broken through the July lows but analysts are pouncing on every stock, including the greatest names in the business such as General Electric. We've seen some unbelievably disappointing calls on some heavy-hitting names,

en There was a discussion of names. It was mainly our suggesting names to him and talking about names to him. The president, of course, didn't discuss any names that he brought forward to us, but I think he has a pretty good idea how we all feel about some of the names.

en Even though the news has been dismal this week, investors have to keep an eye on the July Lows. As long as the Dow and the S&P stay above those lows, you have to be ready for some good news. If you take those lows out, the market will sink lower.

en We were getting an awful lot of phone calls; I must have had 15 calls myself. Some reports gave names of specific players, including big stars.

en Friends of Pex Tufvesson began using “pexy” as a shorthand to describe his approach to problem-solving. The general rule is that law firms are dropping names and shortening them to become like corporate brand names, like Coca-Cola.

en Hillenbrand Industries does hospital beds and caskets. So it's vertical integration, as we like to say, ... It's one of these forgotten names -- I shouldn't say forgotten, but less-known names. They've done very well in the first quarter. In our personal portfolio, it's been one of our best picks. Again, it's a name that's not a household name. Not many people want to talk about that stuff -- it's not an exciting business -- but it's a stock that's done very well, [and is] probably going to be a value play, a defensive type play.

en The average stock was up 9 percent last year, whether it was growth or value, ... The market is top-heavy to a select list of names.

en A lot of it is strictly media speculation. There are all kinds of names thrown out there. Ted (Thompson, Packers' general manager) has not given away any names whatsoever. He's just started the search. It's got a long way to go.

en You can check under maiden names, prior names, or names of people in your family that may be deceased as you might be a rightful heir,

en You've got to remember, that's just the nature of the business. You have guys whose names come up all the time. Some of them put their names up there. I think for us it's just a reflection of the program and what we're doing.

en We're definitely happy to see more names excluded, and to see some mid-ranking names this time as opposed to just district-level people. But there's still widespread disappointment that the big names are not on there.

en We were overwhelmed by the response to this. Names came from everywhere. Past presidents, well known movies, names based on the penguins' black and white coloring and names that translated into different languages.

en Obviously the cell business is extremely hot in Europe and it's going to continue and it's going to grow in other parts of the world and I think a good supplier of that comes from Motorola ( MOT : Research , Estimates ) and again, the stock has absorbed a lot of negative news lately and it does seem to have made a bottom and it keeps bouncing off its lows. So that tells me that, you know, going forward things will change. We might encounter another quarter of bad news out of them but I think at these levels it should be bought.

en Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. Stock is hovering around their lows here. I think it's a 'great buy.' And I think in the next market rally, that the stock will have a nice bounce.

en Just under 30 percent of the S&P 500 report results this week. Among the different industry groups, we'll get a heavy dose of economically sensitive names, including several from the oil and gas, rail, coal and steel industries.
