A lot of the people who come through here are repeat offenders and part of their problems are that they are having difficulty getting a job without a high school diploma. This new GED program is a stepping stone for them to start having a better life.

For every 10 students who start high school in Ohio, only seven will earn a diploma, only five will enroll is post-secondary institution and of those, fewer that three out of 10 will complete a bachelor's degree within 10 years, ... Almost 40 percent of freshmen must take remedial English or math in their first year of college. A high school diploma should mean that a student is prepared to succeed in college.

A basic aspect of our program is to get you a GED or high school diploma if you don't have one. The first thing we'll do when you come to us is to enroll you in a school.

This just reaffirms what we've been saying all along: This is a big-time basketball school with a big-time basketball coach. Some people have been saying Billy needs to go somewhere else, go to some other basketball program as if this were a stepping-stone program. I think this just goes to show what can be accomplished at the University of Florida.

As an example, you need to have a high school diploma in order to receive the Army College Fund, and obviously if you don't have the diploma, you won't qualify. I guess my main goal is to not have the people who are constant offenders continue. I can count eight right now who are repeat offenders. It would be good for them to get hit a little harder in the wallet.

It was exactly what Mallory needed to do to close out her high school career. It's a great stepping stone to really big things that will happen for her at the Naval Academy.

We (as a school system) don't just do high school so students can get a diploma. We should prepare students for the next step in life.

They have to have end of course testing just like at the traditional high school as well as pass the Georgia high school graduation test to get their diploma.

To say that the majority is high DUI and repeat offenders is not true.

I have this theory of life that there are four popular people in high school and then there are the rest of us. I write movies for the rest of us who never peaked in high school. For the people that did peak in high school and then realized later that it's all downhill, welcome to the movie as well.

Finally, we had some people step up and go forward. We need this. Everyone else has a feeder program to their high school, and we didn't. Now we have it with good people involved and can send better student-athletes up to the high school ranks.

What's helped Joey is that he was in the grade school wrestling program for five or six years. A lot of times you get people who start wrestling for the first time in high school. But his experience in the past really helps him. He's a good bottom- and top-position wrestler.

The fact that people see the value of Part D and are moving to Part D coverage in droves certainly is affirmation of the program even as it is the source of much the difficulty being reported.

We do students a disservice to send the message that it is acceptable to drop out of school when they are 16 years old. A high school diploma is a minimum requirement for future success, and we will continue to press for changing the compulsory school attendance age.
